Data analysis and visualization tools for groundwater and solute transport

by C Tech Development Corporation     based in Henderson, NEVADA (USA)

Groundwater and Solute Transport modeling is a sub discipline of environmental sciences with unique needs. Modeling has long utilized 3D simulations, but the ability to visualize and animate the results has lagged far behind the simulation technology. EVS-PRO, MVS, and EnterVol offer professional level presentation tools worthy of the current state-of-the-art in modeling. Visualization of groundwater and solute transport modeling results can be performed with all versions of C Tech’s software except for EVS for ArcView. EVS-Pro, MVS, and EnterVol are particularly well suited for animation and visualization of earth science modeling results from third party modeling systems such as USGS MODFLOW, MT3D, GMS©, Groundwater Vistas© and Visual MODFLOW©. Both combine animation capabilities with a powerful suite of visualization tools in a fully customizable environment.

Data analysis and visualization tools for monitoring well decommissioning

by C Tech Development Corporation     based in Henderson, NEVADA (USA)

Contaminated groundwater sites worldwide are engaged in regular sampling of monitoring wells at a typical cost of $1,500 per well-sampling event. On most sites, many wells are redundant or geostatistically insignificant and can be decommissioned.
EVS-PRO and MVS`s Well Decommission module analyses all available data and quantifies the impact on site assessment quality associated with removing each well. The impact of removing a well is quantified in terms of its impact on the geostatistical plume extent.
During remediation plumes are shrinking and may drift. This can necessitate decommissioning of some wells and adding new wells. C Tech`s well decommissioning and DrillGuide© technology provide the tools to properly monitor and guide the remediation efforts at the lowest possible cost.

Data analysis and visualization tools for groundwater modeling

by C Tech Development Corporation     based in Henderson, NEVADA (USA)

Groundwater and Solute Transport modeling is a sub discipline of environmental sciences with unique needs. Modeling has long utilized 3D simulations, but the ability to visualize the results has lagged far behind the simulation technology. EVS-PRO and MVS have long offered professional level presentation tools worthy of the current state-of-the-art in modeling, and EnterVol now opens that door to GIS professionals around the world. Visualization of groundwater and solute transport modeling results can be performed from third party modeling systems such as USGS MODFLOW, MT3D, GMS©, Groundwater Vistas and Visual MODFLOW© using C Tech’s tools to convert these modeling outputs into EFF format. In conjunction with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and IT Group, C Tech performed the visualization and animation of the output from a Groundwater Vistas MODFLOW and MT3D99 simulation of a large industrial complex in the central valley area of California.  This site exhibits highly channelized flow which is evidenced by the flow paths. Note that flow in the lower aquifer crosses underneath the upper channels at about 30 degrees!

OneRainware™ - Radar rainfall for real-time and analytical applications.

by OneRain Incorporated     based in Longmont, COLORADO (USA)

Accurate estimation of the spatial distribution of rainfall is critical to successfully model hydrologic processes. OneRain has worked with engineering firms and those with responsibilities in Stormwater and Wastewater Management across the U.S. to provide radar rainfall data to help characterize storm events or flow problems in collection systems and as a basis for both real-time and design-oriented modeling. OneRainware products and services offer: *Real-time gauge-adjusted radar rainfall (GARR) data *Real-time area-average rainfall *Real-time forecast rainfall *End-of-month archive quality gauge-adjusted radar rainfall data *Historical and post-event analysis using archived rainfall estimates *Web-delivered calibrated radar-rainfall data *StormProperties™ Analysis. GARR data are used in flood warning, runoff modeling, basin modeling, I/I studies, litigation, real-time control, design storms, and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) compliance activities.

GIS software for environmental management sector

by Esri     based in Redlands, CALIFORNIA (USA)

As scientists and environmental managers, you use GIS to study the environment, report on environmental phenomena, and model how the environment is responding to natural and man-made factors.

noise3D online

by Sonja Christiansen Informatik GmbH (SCI)     based in Sankt Augustin, GERMANY

noise3D online enables commercial and industrial users to assess noise levels with the latest available propagation programs, without having to purchase expensive software. Instead, the 3D modeling software Trimble Navigation SketchUp or Google Earth (Pro) are used as interface. You can use your own planning documents, such as scanned maps for digitization, or transfer data from Google Earth for a simpler option.

Oil spill clean-up for working overtime to support the gulf cleanup areas

by Vac-Tron Equipment     based in Okahumpka, FLORIDA (USA)

The unprecedented oil spill disaster in the Gulf is something that strikes at the heart of all Vac-Tron employees, most of us whom call Florida our lifelong home.

Data analysis and visualization tools for groundwater contamination

by C Tech Development Corporation     based in Henderson, NEVADA (USA)

Sites with soil contamination often are also subject to contamination of the groundwater.  Groundwater contamination can be very complex and a thorough understanding of the geology of the aquifer and contaminant sources is critical in planning remediation efforts.  EnterVol offers C Tech’s proven technology within the ArcGIS environment.

Fast Water, Rivers & Lakes

by DESMI A/S     based in Noerresundby, DENMARK

Oil spill response operations are notably difficult in rivers with strong current. In addition, when considering response times for river spills in relation to the mobilisation time required for conventional land- or vessel-based boom systems, a timely response is often a logistic impossibility especially in the more remote regions. Therefore, equipment must be readily at hand near the sites of operation and pre-rigged lines, cables and mooring areas are a must. Selection of a good location to deploy the oil containment system is dependent upon prior planning and understanding of the currents. Drift studies, river run off histories, tidal current tables and charts, plus computer modeling are all useful tools to understand the flow patterns and to develop recovery strategies. Reading the currents and flow patterns require practice and understanding of the hydrodynamics involved.

Data analysis and visualization tools for soil contamination

by C Tech Development Corporation     based in Henderson, NEVADA (USA)

C Tech is known worldwide for our innovative approaches to Soil contamination modeling. Soil contaminant data can often span 6 orders of magnitude or more. Extremely high gradients coupled with limited budgets make it very challenging to develop reasonable models of contaminant distributions. EnterVol incorporates C Tech’s proven expert systems to conquer the challenging process of developing reasonable volumetric plume models. EnterVol provides the ability to present reams of complex geologic and environmental contamination data in a form that is easily comprehended by a judge, jury or the public. In our world where 3D models are commonplace on television, environmental litigators cannot afford to present complex geochemistry data with graphs and charts. You need defensible, data driven models with the realism to win the jury’s minds and the statistical foundation and sound science to stand up to the most rigorous cross examination.

Fibre Optic Distributed Temperature Sensing for Borehole Flow Monitoring

by Silixa Ltd     based in Elstree, UNITED KINGDOM

Subsurface environments are critical not only as water resources but also for energy use including geothermal, CO2 sequestration and oil & gas operations. These sensitive environments are directly affected by anthropogenic activities, hence monitoring is essential. Temperature offers insight into a variety of physical properties and can be used for flow monitoring and flux quantification in the subsurface. Traditionally, point sensors have been used to collect temperature data; however, significant limitations exist.
