The programmes serve to enhance the capacities of individual participants to influence thinking and operations in their home organisations and contribute to national and international water resources processes.

Participants represent a broad group of water resources-related stakeholders, such as governments, NGOs, media, private sector and academia. The programmes actively engaged each participant in mentor and peer reviews on work plans and projects, discussions, expert panels and group work, role plays as well as field visits and in-depth case studies. The SIWI/Ramboll Natura consortium worked in close collaboration with international, regional and local institutions and experts to give participants tailored, relevant and up–to-date expertise, experience and tools. Regional implementation partners include the African Centre for Technology Studies, African Centre for Water Research, International Water Management Institute, Global Water Partnership, WaterNet and the Water and Environment Research and Study Center, University of Jordan.
