Petroleum Safety Training (PST with CSTS)
Enform, which is the training, certification and health and safety services arm of the upstream petroleum industry, has designed and produced this safety training program for workers in the petroleum industry. This comprehensive curriculum includes a WHMIS certificate as well as specialized lessons in four sectors of the oil industry. Participants need only take one of the four optional lessons that pertain to their sector.
In addition, the student may also take the Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) portion that involves two lessons.
This course is comprised of nine different lessons:
- Regulations
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
- Personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Hazard recognition and control
- Common workplace hazards and control
- Oil and gas industry hazards and control
- Gas hazards and control measures
- Work procedures
- Safety communications
The course allows participants to choose from one of the following four industry-specific lessons:
- Exploration hazards and control
- Drilling rig hazards and control
- Oilfield trucking hazards and control
- Production and plant hazards and control
