Algae control in wastewater lagoons

Wastewater lagoon algae control eliminates aigae up to 70-90% and reduces pH, TSS and BOD levels.


The algae control devices from LG Sonic emit specific ultrasonic parameters to control algae, resulting in an improved water quality.

Treated wastewater usually contains high levels of nutrients that can cause algal blooms on the water surface of storage ponds. An excess of algae can increase levels of pH, BOD and TSS, making reuse or discharge of the water difficult. The treatment of algae in waste water lagoons is important to improve the water quality before discharge in order to comply to the waste water quality standards.

The MPC-Grid controls and monitors the algae to have higher quality water that is safe to release back in the environment.  The MPC-Grid has a monitoring system which provides real-time the water quality data in the lagoon.

Compliance with wastewater quality standards

Permits identify monthly averages and maximum levels of BOD, Suspended Solids in the treatment effluent.

No impact on beneficial bacteria

LG Sonic can be used to treat wastewater lagoons to reduce the formation of algae in the lagoons without harming bacteria in charge of nutrient reduction.

Lower Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) levels

BOD is an indicator of the biological pollution of water. An excess of algae can increase levels of pH, BOD and TSS, making reuse or discharge of the water difficult.

Lowering the amount of Total Suspended Solids (TSS)

High levels of total suspended solids will increase turbidity and decrease dissolved oxygen (DO) levels. This can negatively affect the operation process.

Improve water quality before discharge

By lowering BOD and TSS levels, the wastewater discharges do not adversely affect aquatic recreation and/or wildlife.


Can be deployed quickly and easily without the need for a crane. The system is easily accessible for maintenance while deployed.

The MPC-Grid is a modular unit that is easy to assemble and install. The system is powered from the mains (AC, DC optional). Both the ultrasonic transmitters and sensors are equipped with an automatic cleansing system. The system can be remotely managed and monitored.
