Wastewater treatment for the metal industry - Metal
Wastewater and process water treatment in the metal industry. Industrial waste water or circuit water in the metal industry can be broken down into many comprehensive, subject-specific areas. AWAS has developed various methods of treatment technology for the metal industry in the last 30 years. Generally we accept any environmental challenge and like to respond to individual problems.

Aluminum Industry
Aluminum Smelters
The special challenging task in the aluminum industry is to free the circulating production and cooling water from oil and to retain sediments and floating materials. These oils are no ordinary mineral oils, but special lube oils that cannot be removed by standard separators. The lube oil partly emulsifies and partly floats. The oil contains many aluminum micro particles, which greatly affect the specific gravity of the oil. The oil tends to a specific weight of 0.96g/ml and above after a few weeks of operation. Furthermore it is important that after a long use of a process water cacle the fluidity of the oil decreases, because aluminum and other heavy materials are being absorbed. AWAS has developed a special aluminum industry process engineering, which among others works with:
In the aluminum die cast industry there are other special, strongly emulsifying oils in use. For this purpose we developed a special floating process technology which is widely used around the world.
Non-Ferrous, Special and Heavy Metals
The precipitation of various metals are being reached by our chemical-physical ADF-Flotation or our batch system, see AWAS-CH
- by adding special precipitants for the respective metal
- by pH adjustment and/orc) by our UVA frequentation
Downstream membrane processes regulate high degradation rates.
Metal Recycling
Wastewater and emulsions in metal recycling
Recycling of raw materials is becoming increasingly important. The metal recycling industry makes a significant contribution to the conservation of resources. These metal storage areas cause wastewater load through fluids that drip from scrap and often mix with rain water. The wastewater contains oils, emulsions, heavy metals and mineral particles. This wastewater must not be fed untreated into the municipal drainage.
We meet these challenges for every scrap yard individually with our adapted wastewater treatment systems. Separators, flotations, demulsification plants and other individual wastewater modules are being utilised.Using our special and widely used wastewater industry concept, we attach great importance to the reduction of waste, accumulation from the water treatment and the saving of disposal costs e.g. from separators. Pure emulsions may be prepared in a way that no mud, but an oil fraction is recovered.Call us and we will offer you individual advice and solutions and also support you during the upcoming regulatory approval procedures. With AWAS you get everything from one source!
Turning and Grinding Shops
Each operator has several demands on cooling lubricant emulsions:
(A) for the extension of service life
- The function should be maintained as long as possible
- Bacterial growth should be avoided
- Remaining physiological compatibility for lungs and skin
- Floatable and settleable solids must be retained
- Maximum permitted particle grain size only
- Maximum permitted particle grain size only
- General: maximization of service life
(B) For the own disposal
Instead of high costs for waste management by a disposal company, a technique should be installed, which reduces these costs.AWAS has a reasonable technical solution for all these requirements.
