Flow Monitoring Services

Field Services

Now all flow monitoring networks can receive the field service expertise of ADS Environmental Services. With over 30 years experience as the leader in wastewater flow monitoring and Underground Intelligence®, ADS has commissioned permanent flow monitoring networks across America and Australia. Whether a small network of five monitors or a large network of 400, ADS offers comprehensive field services to support the proper installation and operation of all flow monitor networks.

Data Analysis Services

The Importance of Accurate and Reliable Flow Data. When ADS Environmental Services conducts flow monitoring, SSES, or any other type of field services, the data generated goes through numerous quality control checks and is presented in a format that both explains the information and summarizes our recommended plan of action. All data generated is stored electronically and managed by an information management program.  ADS is flexible and can utilize a number of engineering software applications for data management.  Raw data can be quickly transferred from a secure server for immediate or future retrieval.

Flow Monitoring Services

The results of accurate flow monitoring identify and prioritize sub-basins with infiltration/inflow problems, if possible eliminating sub-basins from further study. Both permanent and temporary flow-monitoring locations are utilized to pinpoint areas for Sewer System Evaluation Survey (SSES) project tasks.  Long term flow monitoring is an excellent management tool as it presents pre and post flow performance data to support project goals, verifies rehabilitation, and justifies future projects. In addition, it calibrates models with actual design storm flows.  Temporary flow studies delineate problem areas, rank sub-basins by inflow and infiltration (I/I) severity and eliminate basin areas from unnecessary, costly fieldwork. ADS is the only company that can provide single point accountability for flow monitoring equipment, field installation, and maintenance services.

SSES and Condition Assessment Services

Smoke Testing Services

Identify and Quantify Inflow Sources with Smoke Testing. Smoke testing will identify inflow sources and most restrictive conditions within the sewer lines. In order to identify defects in the lines, the non-toxic smoke will be forced into the sewer. During the smoke test, breaks in the sewer will allow the smoke to escape. Ordinarily, one line segment upstream and downstream of the manhole will be tested at one time.

CCTV Services

Pinpoint the Exact Location of Pipe Defects With TV Camera Inspection. Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) inspection services pinpoint the specific location of pipeline deficiencies. It allows for an internal, up-close evaluation of the structural conditions within the sewer pipe.  CCTV inspection is performed to determine the location and extent of any defects that may permit groundwater infiltration or reduce the hydraulic efficiency of the collection system.

Manhole Inspection Services

Inventory Assets and Determine the Condition of Your Collection System. A manhole inspection is performed in order to accurately inventory the assets of the collection system, to update collection system maps and to determine the structural condition of each manhole, recording any defects.

Dye Water Testing Services

Locate and Quantify Defects in Your Collection System. Usually performed in conjunction with internal TV inspections. Dye Water Flooding aides in the location and quantification of specific defects during an evaluation. The procedure consists of forcing non-toxic dye into defects located during smoke testing and manhole inspection. The path of the dye is then documented, and leaks in the sewer lines are located. Manholes with evidence of inflow/infiltration, mainline defects, cross-connections, roof drains and area drains can all be investigated using the dye flooding procedure.

Water Services

Comprehensive Water Audits

A Water Audit is a full analysis of water processed by a utility. The analysis is conducted starting with an accurate accounting of raw, treated and sold water. In a complete Water Audit, the accuracy of the raw water meters and their output is verified. This production is then compared to authorized consumption, both billed and unbilled, to determine water loss in the system. Water loss is then further divided in Apparent; unauthorized consumption and metering inaccuracies and Real; the lossthrough all types of leaks, bursts, service reserviorsand service connections up to the point of customer metering. The audit also analyzes the billing versus metered consumption, large meter sizing, pump efficiency, and economic leakage analysis.

Consumption Analysis

ADS Environmental Services can provide a detailed consumption analysis of the metered use of customers. This can determine the impact on water use and revenue of the current meter change-out program for 10-1nch, 8-inch, and 6-inch meters. This facilitates the selecting of 3-inch and 4-inch meters for testing and replacement. This service also could efficiently select 2-inch meters for the planned testing program.

Master Planning

A master plan includes a prioritized list of proposed improvements and a master plan map. Proposed improvements are based on modeling results. ADS Pipeline Services" experienced engineers use the calibrated model to simulate critical future conditions. When the model predicts unsatisfactory performance with the existing system, improvements are designed on a trial basis.
