Water Management System Design

AGREM - Design Process Software

Our goal in water management design is to give you the options you need to make the best decision for your farm. To do so, we have a multiple step process that includes our expertise and your feedback. First, we gather soil and survey data for your field. Next, we prepare a series of preliminary maps showing different water management options for your consideration. We then work with you to modify those preliminary designs to develop a water management system that meets your goals for the lowest possible cost. The final plans are then developed for installation by you, your local contractor, or an AGREM Professional Contractor.

AGREM - Surface and Combination Drainage Systems

Most fields benefit from both surface and subsurface drainage. Subsurface drainage, even at high intensities, often cannot handle all rain events alone. Incorporating surface drains within a subsurface water management system allows for methods to remove excess water effectively and also reduces the risk of soil erosion, which can destroy a subsurface water management system over time. AGREM offers several options in surface drainage design that can be included with subsurface water management systems.

AGREM - Conventional Pattern Tile Drainage Systems

Conventional Drainage Systems are the most basic form of pattern tile drainage systems. These systems provide relief drainage to a field with laterals placed according to soil types and your desired drainage coefficient. If possible, these systems are designed to minimize the amount of mains required to provide outlets to laterals. Laterals are further extended to their greatest possible length. By doing so, conventional drainage systems are the lowest cost method of providing relief drainage throughout a field.

AGREM - Interceptor Pattern Tile Drainage Systems

AGREM Interceptor Drainage Sytems are a type of conventional pattern tile where laterals are placed as much as possible to intercept water flows. By placing laterals perpendicular to subsurface water flow, laterals intercept water flow, such as side seeps, and remove water as it flows down hill. This allows for more efficient water removal and reduces ponding. Interceptor systems are not as efficient as Contour Drainage Systems but are more efficient than Conventional Pattern Systems. Interceptor systems are designed according to your soil type and provide consistent drainage through your field.

AGREM - Contour Pattern Tile Drainage Systems

AGREM Contour Drainage Systems are the most efficient and effective drainage systems in the market today. By placing tile laterals along the contours, our tile intercepts the flow of water in your field, thereby maximizing the effectiveness of the tile installed in removing excess water. In addition to interceptor drainage, tiles are placed at a uniform depth throughout your field. This provides relief drainage to fields with topographical variation. Additionally, AGREM Contoured Drainage Systems can be upgraded to AGREM Controlled Drainage Systems or AGREM Subirrigation Systems, allowing for long term expansion of your water management needs.
