Engineering Services
Environmental Field Services
ASI Group is fully equipped to offer a wide range of technical aquatic field services for an array of client-specific needs.
Operations
Water & Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations Services
ASI provides complete Operation and Management (O&M) services for water and wastewater treatment facilities, using operators with dual licensing to reduce cost to the client. Our O&M services include full responsibility for compliance reporting, approvals and communications with regulatory bodies. Essentially, ASI acts as a utility service provider for our clients. Our engineers and technicians provide our clients with updates on the new drinking water and wastewater regulations as they are tabled for public consent prior to becoming legislation.
Laboratory Services
Environmental Effects Monitoring Services
Environmental Effects Monitoring (EEM) is a scientific tool that assesses the effects of effluent from industrial or other sources on fish, fish habitat and the human use of fisheries resources. Information from EEM, taken together with social, economic and technical considerations, may be used to assess the adequacy of the regulations in protecting aquatic environments and to ensure proper management, conservation and protection of aquatic environments. EEM is not just an end-of-pipe measurement of the concentrations of various contaminants in effluent. Monitoring of the fish populations and benthic invertebrate community is done in local aquatic environments, to determine if the effluent is having any effects on fish, fish habitat and the human use of fisheries resources.ASI’s full accredited in-house laboratory enables ASI to offer fast turnaround while ensuring that samples and data are analysed under a rigorous quality assurance/quality control program.
Effluent Regulation Conformance Services
Ontario’s Municipal and Industrial Strategy for Abatement (MISA) consists of nine industrial sectors to limit the concentrations of specific substances, known to have adverse effects at specified levels, being discharged directly into Ontario waterways. Compliance with MISA regulations must be maintained by all dischargers.
Toxicity Identification/Reduction Evaluation Services
The objective of the Toxicity Identification/Reduction Evaluation (TIE/RE) is to identify the general chemical group of causative toxicants. This is accomplished by chemically or physically manipulating the sample to neutralize, alter, or remove specific groups of chemicals. Bioassay tests are then conducted on the manipulated sub-samples to assess which treatments have removed toxicity. In some cases, identification of the toxicant`s chemical group alone provides enough information for the elimination or effective control of toxicity to an acceptable level.
Field Services
ASI’s wide range of laboratory services is backed by numerous field services that provide our clients with a complete solution for any environmental regulation requirement. ASI specializes in water and effluent sampling applications, implementing sampling programs at numerous sites.
Commercial Diving
Manned Underwater Inspections Services
Underwater inspections requiring manned methods are conducted by ASI’s highly experienced and certified commercial divers. ASI’s Commercial Diving Services provide quality and competence, ensuring that underwater inspections are accomplished successfully and without incident. Our commercial dive crews conduct underwater civil engineering inspections for structural assessment, non-destructive examination, repair design, cost estimating and forensics employing a range of technologies including purpose built camera and lighting equipment.
Nuclear Diving Services
ASI delivers a wide range of commercial diving services to the nuclear power industry. We ensure the necessary procedures and plans are in place to protect the safety of the divers, crew and facility in working in radiological environments. ASI is committed to the radiation safety principal ALARA (as low as reasonably possible) and operates under strict Quality Control/Assurance guidelines.
Underwater Welding Services
ASI Group is uniquely qualified to provide underwater welding services to respond to a wide range of client requirements. We maintain a weld program at our facility’s weld test tank to ensure quality and certification of personnel and equipment.
