Hydraulic & Hydrologic Engineering Services
Associated Engineering offers a wide range of services in the Water Resources field. The strength of our water resources team results from our expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic engineering, combined with our ability to use and interpret a variety of software packages. Our team is conversant with a number of dynamic one-dimensional software platforms including SWMM 5 (PCSWMM, XP-SWMM), MIKE FLOOD (MIKE URBAN, MIKE 11), and InfoWorks CS. Where warranted, we use dynamic two-dimensional software including River 2D and MIKE 21. We also have specialists that analyze complex three-dimensional dynamic problems using CFD Fluent.
Stormwater Services
Managing stormwater is crucial to minimize the potential for flood-related damage including surface flooding, erosion, and sedimentation. At Associated Engineering, we encourage integrated approaches for managing stormwater at a basin level. The key objectives are to maintain or improve the ecological health of watersheds by helping clients manage watersheds in a holistic manner. This includes planning development in a manner that protects environmentally sensitive areas, maximizes the use of stormwater source controls (LID’s), and incorporates stormwater Best Management Practices (BMP’s). Our team of water resources engineers, hydrologists, aquatic and terrestrial biologists, planners, hydrogeologists, geomorphologists and facilitators highlight our integrated approach to watershed management.
Wastewater Treatment Services
Associated Engineering has the expertise and experience to solve today`s complex wastewater problems in an environmentally-safe and affordable manner. Our services range from liquid waste management planning to detailed design and construction management. Using state-of-the-art process design software, we can analyze and optimize existing treatment plant operation, plan economical upgrades, or design new treatment facilities. Our team of wastewater specialists is known for its ability to provide innovative solutions to unique problems, as demonstrated on the Greater Vancouver Regional District`s Secondary Treatment Project which featured the largest trickling filter/solids contact (TF/SC) plant in the world, as well as the first extended thermophilic anaerobic digesters. While we are always looking for opportunities to innovate, we also believe in traditional solutions and using the appropriate level of technology for the client.
