Water Treatment

AW - Ion exchanger

A VE plant generates demineralized water with a conductivity value of <10 µS/cm using ion exchange technology. Contrary to the mechanical filtration, which removes solid substances from the water, this procedure lets the ions suspended in the solution react with the interexchanger resin. The ions are exchanged in the interexchanger. The water filtration speed in the resin column is limited by the diffusion speed of the ions to be exchanged.

AW - Ion Exchange Circulation Plant

An ion exchange circulation plant saves water by continually cleaning the circulating water.  Contrary to the mechanical filtration, which removes solid substances from the water, this procedure lets the ions suspended in the solution react with the interexchanger resin.

AW - Reverse Osmosis Plants

A reverse osmosis plant is used to produce demineralized water up to a conductivity of < 20 – 30 µS/cm without the use of chemical agents. This procedure works by separating two homogeneous solutions with a membrane. Osmotic pressure drives part of the water substances through the membrane, while the rest is held back. When the pressure necessary to reverse the water flow compared to the working pressure is negligible, it is called reverse osmosis. This is usually the case when low molecular substances like salts or caustic solutions are separated, since these create enormous osmotic pressures even in relatively low concentrations.

A plant with gravel-packed filters is used to remove sediment and suspended matter from liquids in waste water treatment and water recycling.

Recycling

AW - Chromic Acid Recovery Plant

This plant is used to recover chromic acid carried out of process solutions by cleaning solutions. Water collected from the cleaning solution is cleared of metals by an ion exchanger and carried into the evaporator, where it is evaporated until the concentration is the same as in the process solution. Solution cooling through the heat necessary for the evaporator is an additional benefit. Using a chromic acid recovery plant can recover up to 95% of used acid, cutting an equal percentage in decontamination costs.
