In 1980 Balcan brought the first commercial lamp crusher to the world. In the mid 90`s they started the first UK on site lamp and bulb disposal service, which changed to lamp recyling service in 2001.

Being designers of lamp recyclers, as well as being a lamp recycler, Balcan designed and manufactured their lamp recycling machines to accept both whole and crushed lamps. Being able to accpet both types of lamps in the waste stream gives it the advantage over lamp recycling machines which only accept whole lamps. With its ability to accept crushed and whole lamps in its recycler as well as being able to be dual fed with mixed lamps, the unique operation of Balcan Lamp Recycling System means it produces some of the cleanest glass available from this type of plant.
