Enhanced Soil Washing Services

Land Remediation Services
Land remediation is usually part of cleaning up and redeveloping industrialized, contaminated sites, so-called brownfield land. Boskalis Environmental is active in many countries in this complex field of land remediation. Our customized equipment, designed by our own engineers, enables us to implement the best possible remediation option, including, if necessary, deploying our mobile soil washing plants to wash the excavated soil on site.
Dredging Depot Management Services
Over the last 20 years Boskalis Environmental has specialized in the design and management of large dredging depots (e.g., Confined Disposal Facilities, or CDFs). These depots are sometimes used for temporary storage of dredged sediments before being processed into building material. This is often necessary in areas where sediments cannot be processed immediately simply because of the large quantities of dredged material.
Mining & Mine Tailings Services
Boskalis Environmental is becoming ever more intensively involved in processing mine tailings with the aim of recovering useful raw materials.Specialized separation and dewatering techniques with which we have decades of experience are highly suitable for this. These techniques can turn environmentally harmful substances into useful products. Through a safe process, the environmental burden of tailings, such as residual products from bauxite mining or oil sands tailings, can be removed or reduced. Our separation techniques are also able to analyze phosphate nodules from sediments dredged up at sea from a depth of 400 meters (1300 feet ) by our sister company Boskalis Offshore.
Laboratory Services
Boskalis Environmental has its own dedicated laboratory that undertakes research activities such as sampling, geotechnical and environmental surveys and physical analysis. This is an added value for the client. The surveys carried out by our laboratory enhance the quality of our results, during both preparation and execution of projects. For example, in soil-washing projects the lab conducts washing tests to calculate the separation efficiency of the washing process. In land reclamation projects the lab uses the Cone Penetration Test (CPT) to check the bearing capacity of the soil and so determine whether it is suitable for the construction of infrastructure.
