Environmental Representation/Coordination/Management
Proper coordination is essential to any environmental or development project’s success. Historically, this coordination role has been assigned to task-specific contractors (e.g., design group, soil contractor etc.), who may get “lost among the trees”, or to the corporate environmental professionals themselves. While the modern day corporate environmental professionals are qualified, they often have a portfolio of sites that requires constant involvement to successfully complete each project. It is in support of this group of corporate professionals that C2 REM was founded in 1995.
Environmental Assessments
The desire to avoid or limit liability is a common denominator among purchasers and sellers of properties. The first step toward reaching this objective is to perform an environmental assessment. C2 REM’s focused approach to environmental assessments begins with gathering related data through conventional channels and the establishment of a project hypothesis that takes the “scatter” out of the data. This approach provides for the development of a detailed scope of work that results in remedies for the most complex projects.
Real Estate Development & Development of Impacted Sites
The prospect of returning an environmentally impacted property to productive use is both enticing and daunting to many property owners. The investment of time and money is considerable. The economic risk associated with property development is greater than simply maintaining or remediating the property to comply with regulations. A number of variables in addition to regulatory requirements are necessary, including the site conditions, surrounding impacts and community acceptance. Yet under the right conditions, converting an impacted site with financial liability into an asset is both achievable and in the best interest of the owner, the local government and the community.
Brownfields Development
One exciting and evolving area of the environmental industry is the remediation and redevelopment of impacted sites known as Brownfields. Brownfields are abandoned, idled, or under- used industrial or commercial properties where development is complicated by real or perceived environmental contamination. Many of our clients are, or will be, involved in these properties and C2 REM is uniquely qualified to carry out all elements of Brownfields conversion. In fact, C2 REM is presently providing these services to several clients in various capacities and stages.
