Liquid Phase Adsorption Equipment

Carbon Adsorption System

Calgon Carbon`s Dual Express is a carbon adsorption system specifically designed to provide a rapid solution to a temporary problem. For emergency situations where quick response is critical, it can be dispatched to a customer`s site within hours of notification and operation can begin immediately after set-up. Calgon Carbon personnel are available to supervise system start-up. The Dual Express is a skid-mounted backwashable system delivered as two pre-piped adsorbers with a separate interconnecting pipe module. It is available pre-filled with activated carbon that, once exhausted, can be returned to Calgon Carbon for reactivation as part of a closed loop carbon exchange service.

CalgonCarbon DISPOSORB - Carbon Adsorber Canisters

The DISPOSORB canisters have been developed by Calgon Carbon Corporation for rapid deployment and cleanup of low flow treatment applications such as off-spec products, accidental spills, wash water or runoff water treatment or temporary groundwater cleanups. The DISPOSORB canisters contain all of the design features of a full scale adsorber, but are easily transportable and are intended to be disposed of properly after use. The DISPOSORB canisters are available in two sizes; the larger canister containing 1,000 lbs of granular activated carbon to treat flows up to 35 gpm, and the smaller version containing 165 lbs of granular activated carbon to treat up to 10 gpm.

Carbon Adsorber Canisters

The PROTECT TW carbon adsorber canisters are economical water treatment units for short term usage applications. PROTECT TW canisters contain all of the operating elements required for utilization of granular activated carbon in water treatment, including a corrosion resistant underdrain for effective treated water collection. The PROTECT TW canisters are constructed of carbon steel with a corrosion resistant inner coating for use with granular activated carbon in water treatment.

Mobile Adsorption Service for Liquid Stream Purification

Calgon Carbon offers a comprehensive Mobile Adsorption Service for the purification and treatment of liquid streams. Designed for optimum convenience to the user, the Service is an ideal cost-effective method to employ for the removal of undesirable organic chemical compounds from off-spec liquids, lagoon drainage, wastewater treatment (point source or end-of-pipe), and chemical spills. It can also be used to pretreat water used in process applications or as an interim treatment step during design and installation of a permanent system to improve product quality.

CalgonCarbon FLOWSORB - Liquid Phase Adsorption Canister

Designed for low-flow water treatment applications, prefabricated 55-gallon FLOWSORB canisters contain all the operating elements found in a full-scale adsorption system

Modular Carbon Adsorption Vessel

The Calgon Carbon MODEL 14 is an adsorption vessel designed for the removal of dissolved organic contaminants, including disinfection byproducts (DBP) or natural organic matter (NOM) from liquids using granular activated carbon (GAC). The vessel is sized to hold 60,000 pounds of GAC which provides the additional contact time required to remove either compounds at low concentrations or poorly adsorbing compounds. The standard design is a single vessel concept where a number of MODEL 14 vessels are configured for parallel operation. As an option, two vessels can be combined with a centralized pipe manifold to allow for series operation. This flexibility of configurations allows the engineer to select the alternative that best meets the requirements of the site and treatment objectives.

Ultraviolet Disinfection Technologies

CalgonCarbon SENTINEL - Ultraviolet Drinking Water Disinfection System

Designed to treat flows up to 4.8 million gallons per day (15 MLD), the Sentiner6 12 can effectively disinfect drinking water in small- to medium-sized treatment plants. The Sentinel 12 uses medium-pressure lamp technology to achieve greater than 4 log in activation of Cryptosporidium and similar pathogens in drinking water. Medium-pressure lamp technology allows the Sentiner612 to be compact with a small footprint. This can provide a significant advantage to water treatment plants looking for a system that can be easily retrofitted into existing treatment systems. The Sentinel* 12 outperforms other advanced treatment technologies such as membranes and ozone at a fraction of the cost. The Sen tin er° 12 system features include independent third-party-certified LW intensity sensors to assure accurate delivery of UV dose, an automatic quartz sleeve cleaning system, and a fully automated control system.

Ultraviolet Oxidation Technology

CalgonCarbon RAYOX - Modular Ultraviolet Oxidation Treatment System

The RATOX°advanced oxidation system supplied by Calgon Carbon Corporation destroys dissolved organic contaminants in water. In this system, a proprietary high-powered, medium-pressure lamp emits high energy UV radiation through a quartz sleeve into the contaminated water. An oxidizing agent, typically hydrogen peroxide, is added to the contaminated water and is activated by the UV light to form oxidizing species called hydroxyl radicals, via.
