Cambridge Environmental Assessments (CEA) services
Agrochemicals
Exposure Modelling Services
Our environmental exposure modellers provide in-depth exposure assessments using industry standard approaches, including the FOCUS Surface Water and FOCUS Groundwater modelling suites. We also provide kinetic analysis according to FOCUS guidance using CAKE, KINGUI or ModelMaker. Calculations of concentrations in soil are also undertaken. We are experienced in the provision of exposure modelling for both EU-level and Member State submissions.Environmental Fate Services
The assessment of the environmental fate and behaviour of plant protection products is a critical part of the evaluation process under the European regulation (EC) No 1107/2009. We have extensive experience in higher tier exposure assessments of active substances and metabolites for the soil, surface water, groundwater and air environmental compartments. Together with in-house expertise in environmental modelling, field fate and spatial analysis, we offer a combination of specialist skills to propose options for refinement of modelling parameters. Favourable outcomes have been achieved through use of refined parameters, for example, resulting from kinetic analysis of soil dissipation data, measurement of drift and runoff parameters in the field, or contextualisation of results. This integrated approach provides solutions to address environmental fate regulatory issues.
Spatial Analysis & Statistics Services
CEA has extensive capability and experience in spatial analysis and statistics, offering a wide range of turnkey spatial and spatially explicit modelling solutions using a wide array of licensed software e.g. ESRI ArcGIS suite, SQL Server, Statistica/R to assist in policy support for European government and regulatory agencies and in the development of refined higher-tier/probabilistic landscape and catchment scale chemical exposure/effects/risk assessments to assist commercial clients in obtaining chemical registrations across Europe at both the EU and Member State levels, managing their post-registration product stewardship and assessing/managing the risks to their water assets/supply chain.Ecotoxicology Services
Terrestrial Ecotoxicology - Our terrestrial ecotoxicology specialists provide innovative risk assessments for birds & mammals, non-target arthropods (NTAs), soil organisms, honeybees and non-target plants. We seek to add realism through the inclusion of scenario-specific data, routinely undertaking complex assignments such as bird & mammal reproductive assessments.Risk Assessment Services
Risk assessments for non-target organisms are conducted by our experienced ecotoxicologists, working closely with efate and modelling colleagues. We are able to review complex fate and effects data packages to provide advice on a way forward, drawing on our backgrounds in contract research to design and co-ordinate studies which meet specific regulatory requirements. We are experienced in refining problematic risk assessments for difficult groups such as birds and mammals and aquatic organisms, and conduct these assessments as stand-alone tasks or as part of dossier submissions. Our experience of industry working groups and government research provides us with an in-depth understanding of risk assessment requirements.Industrial and Speciality Chemicals
Regulatory Support Services
CEA guides clients through the chemical regulatory process, providing support in identifying and interpreting regulations applicable to their specific industrial area. CEA works with clients to identify the impact of the regulations and business needs, so that we help achieve regulatory compliance at the lowest cost and maximise the benefits. The main focus of CEA has been on REACH and CLP, but our consultants have experience in other areas including the Seveso Directive, Biocides and Cosmetics.Reach Services
CEA have considerable experience with REACH, gained from working in industry and for the regulatory authorities. Our consultants also have technical expertise in ecotoxicology and toxicology, human and environmental exposure and risk assessment, and can call on long experience of working in other regulatory regimes.Safety Data Sheets and ext-SDS’s Services
CEA provides its clients with a range of services to ensure they are compliant with the regulations on safety data sheets. The services include: Preparation of SDSs to CLP/GHS regulation including the latest adaptations to technical progress (ATPs) and 453/2010 EC. SDS’s are prepared in English and all official EU member state languages, depending on the client’s requirements. Where clients require their logo and other company specific information, these are included as long as they meet the regulations. Preparation of extended SDSs (ext-SDS) from Chemical Safety Reports (CSRs). Ext-SDSs can also be prepared from IUCLID 5 substance files using the Chesar tool. Checking of the exposure scenarios (ESs) in the CSRs to ensure the information is correct.
CLP/GHS Classification/Notification and Labelling
CEA provides support to its clients to ensure they are compliant with the CLP/GHS regulations; 1272/2008 EC. The support provided includes: Consultancy advice on the how to meet requirements of the CLP/GHS. Support in the design of product labels to CLP/GHS requirements including member state languages. Advice to importers and EU manufacturers of how to comply with CLP notification requirements. Carrying out of notifications on behalf of our clients. Carrying out data searches for generation of CLP classification. Evaluation of study endpoints in order to classify substances according to CLP/GHS requirements.
