Canada’s natural gas delivery industry is committed to the safe, secure, reliable and resilient supply of natural gas to consumers. Our natural gas delivery systems are designed, built, operated and maintained to the highest codes and standards in Canada but our industry believes its business activities, processes and procedures must be continuously enhanced and improved. This continuous improvement approach helps us address the changing expectations of our customers, the public and our workers as well as the regulatory community and assists us in social acceptance of our competencies and our diligence in the operation of these energy delivery systems.

CGA recognizes the need to have in place an agreement that provides the Canadian natural gas delivery industry a ready to use tool to assist each other during emergency response and recovery.  This assistance includes providing personnel support, equipment and materials or other services in all types of emergencies.  This is intended to help improve the timeliness and effectiveness of response and recovery from emergency events by clarifying the terms, conditions, and availability of mutual assistance in advance of potential emergencies.

Every year key services such as natural gas, electricity, cable, water and telecommunications are damaged by excavators who have not determined the location of these services before beginning their work.
