Constellation Technology Corporation services
Chemical Analysis
Contamination Analysis Services
Contamination in the manufacturing process often leads to costly production losses. Identifying the contaminant can help pinpoint the source of the problem and minimize negative effects. Constellation has the tools to effectively analyze and identify many types of contamination.
Corrosion Evaluation Services
Corrosion of metals is a costly problem that is often caused by environmental or chemical contamination. Constellation has extensive resources for the evaluation of corrosion residues; the first step in determining the source of the corrosion and determining possible solutions. Localized corrosion on the surface of components can be evaluated using surface techniques, such as Auger and XPS. These provide depth profiling that can not only measure the thickness of the corrosion, but also give insight as to the chemical reactions taking place on the surface of the base metal. The presence of potentially corrosive salts can be detected by ion chromatography. The residue chemistry can be determined using SEM-EDS with trace impurities detected by ICP-AES and ICP-MS. The compounds produced by the corrosion can be identified by x-ray diffraction (XRD). This information allows the customer to identify the source and eliminate the cause of corrosion.
Incoming Materials Identification Services
Incoming material inspection and verification is an important part of quality control in the aerospace, automotive and defense industries. Materials used in manufacturing processes are routinely analyzed for adherence to quality specifications, including SAE-AMS and military specifications (MIL-Spec). With an extensive array of analytical instrumentation and experienced chemists and scientists, Constellation can perform incoming chemical and physical tests on a wide range of materials. The laboratory provides testing using US Pharmacopeia, Reagent Chemical, and ASTM methodologies, as well as procedures developed to meet the customer’s needs
Mechanical Analysis
Mechanical Analysis Services
Constellation Technology provides a complete range of mechanical testing that includes: metallographic evaluations, performance testing, failure analysis, strength, and discontinuity testing. Constellation Technology is fully capable of providing a wide variety of testing disciplines to help solve your Measurement - Analysis - Solution needs
Non Destructive Testing
Ultrasonic Inspection Services
The Ultrasonic inspection method employs sound waves to inspect parts and materials. This method is employed to characterize flaws such as cracks, delamination, porosity, voids, missed seams, adhesion, solder bonds and inclusions. In addition, material properties can be determined including elastic, density, sonic velocity, and heat treatment. Constellation Technology offers the contact method of ultrasonic inspection.
Metrology
Advanced Metrology Solutions Services
Precision dimensional measurements. Compliance with specifications, drawings, etc. Verification to standards. First article and independent third party testing services
Reverse Engineering Services
Create 3-D images of existing parts when drawings are not available. Convert these images to solid models. Generate detailed drawings
Engineering Solutions
Receipt Inspection Services
Constellation Technology performs a visual inspection of the as-received package to identify any shipping damage, corrosion, and verify correct package labeling information. Part markings are verified to be in accordance with shipping documents and the Technical Direction Order (TDO). Any discrepancies are reported and any non-conformances documented in the final report. Photo documentation is provided of any non-conformances related to as received conditions.
Visual Inspection Services
Visual inspection is performed to verify presence and adhesion of paints, primers, lockwires, thread-locking substances, grease, and any other assembly substance or subcomponent. Visual inspection is also performed to identify and verify marking requirements. Photographs are included to document visual inspections when feasible.
