The DESMI pumps and systems are sold to more than 100 countries via a network of subsidiaries and distributors on six continents.

DESMI products are designed in such a way that they constitute no health or safety risk to any person when handled and applied correctly. DESMI products are in compliance with the applicable legislation in force.
In relation to contract work, products will be developed and/or manufactured according to the quality guidelines that apply to DESMI products and according to the customer’s additional requirements, if any.
It is furthermore DESMI’s goal constantly to look for possible improvements and implement these on products and services to the extent possible.
By quality control, DESMI ensures that the company and the products fulfill the customers’ requirements and expectations.
The ISO certification ensures that DESMI meets the requirements of ISO 9001 and works on continuous improvements.

DESMI was founded in 1834 by Henning Smith and is one of Denmark’s oldest companies. However, despite our age we are known to be a modern and dynamic organisation which has constantly evolved to meet the needs of our customers and the changing business environment.
Over the years various industrial products have been manufactured, but since mid 18th century, when the first types were introduced, pumps have been a permanent part of DESMI’s range of products.
The mission of the company is to develop, manufacture, sell and service pumps and pumping systems, environmental equipment, and special products related to these areas. DESMI A/S operates globally in sale and sourcing of components. Sales are effected both directly and through wholly or partly owned companies, agents, and distributors.

Image, ethics and conduct, corporate social responsibility, environmental impact and UN Global Compact are all integrated in the overall DESMI group strategy as it is our conviction that respect for the individual and sustainable products and production must be the basis of continued growth of the group. In this respect we have so far primarily focused on our own activities - but we are also convinced that our best opportunity to improve our impact on the external environment is by developing products and concepts that support a reduction in energy consumption and thus reducing their environmental impact.
Consequently we attach great importance to ensuring that our products are designed, manufactured, used and disposed of in an environmentally sound way.
We will seek to base our work on a corporate social responsibility within all group companies through the boards of these companies, working on ensuring that at any time all companies in the group can implement an environmental certification in accordance with the ISO 14001 standard.
In 2009 DESMI has taken part in Green Ship of the Future, where the overall aim is to establish a network for research, development, and innovation within technology and methods for reduction of emission from ships.
A concept for energy check onboard ships has been developed in 2009, and we have seen several examples of considerable energy savings, reduction of the fuel consumption and emission by optimising the systems connected to the pumps delivered by the group. In 2009 we initiated co-operation with A. P. Møller Mærsk A/S and Skjølstrup & Grønborg ApS on development of ballast water treatment systems. The development is handled by the company DESMI Ocean Guard A/S and continues.
In 2009 we have developed equipment for recovery of oil spills in icy waters. As a consequence of the global warming it is possible to open new shipping routes in icy waters, which involves the risk of wrecks and oil spills in waters with a sensivite ecosystem and therefore also the need for equipment for recovery of oil spills that can function in these waters. The development continues.
