Entech - Vacuum Assisted Sorbent Extractionfor Headspace by GC-MS

Vacuum Assisted Sorbent Extraction (VASE) is a next generation extraction technique capable of greatly extending the range of extractable compounds over other headspace or even full immersion techniques. Virtually all liquid and solid samples to be analyzed by GC or GCMS are compatible with this exciting technique that was recently made even better by modifying the presentation of the Sorbent Pen to the vacuum headspace that completely prevents the deposition of aerosols on the outside of the Sorbent Pen during rapid agitation. Aerosol contamination is a known issue with  HSSPME and other headspace techniques where splashing of the sample can lead to the deposition of non-volatile compounds on the extraction device, shorting the lifetime of these devices and increasing the production of thermal breakdown products that can be hard to distinguish from compounds that were actually in the original sample.

Entech - Thermal Extraction Technique For Matrices w/Low Volatility

Flash-VASE is a next generation Thermal Extraction technique that places the sample in very close proximity to the collection sorbent, and uses static extraction under vacuum to more efficiently and completely recover volatile through semi-volatile compounds. Flash-VASE places the sample within a few centimeters of the collection sorbent, with no flowing gases to heat up the sorbent during the extraction which is a known problem with dynamic headspace techniques, so the collected compounds stay optimally close to the front of the sorbent bed for fast and complete release to the GC. Extraction under a vacuum allows recovery of chemicals at a lower temperature, reducing or avoiding breakdown of the matrix itself. Flash-VASE has a tremendous number of advantages over other thermal extraction techniques, allowing Chemists to truly “See What’s Really There™”, in a way that keeps the analytical system clean and free from carryover.

Nickel has long been known for its superior inertness relative to even 316 stainless steel. Through years of development, Entech has created a pure Nickel ferrule that improves overall performance when compared to any other ferrule currently used for whole air sampling and analysis. The unique properties of Nickel create the best combination of inertness, low carryover, and replaceability, so you never have to throw away a fitting, flow controller, (or worse) a 6L canister because your ferrule or ¼” Swagelok style nut failed you. With Entech’s new Nickel Ferrule Technology (NiFTY), you can have the durable and non-absorptive performance of stainless steel ferrules, with the ability to remove and replace ferrules should a problem develop with the compression nut or fitting. The patent pending design creates a semi-permanent ferrule connection, so the ferrule will never fall off unintentionally.

Introducing the latest HDS™ (Helium Diffusion Sampling) Personal Monitor from Entech. A breakthrough technology based on helium diffusion which yields a sampler that is small, light weight, cost-effective, universal, and defensible. HDS™ Personal Monitors simplify the collection of chemicals in the workplace and deliver highly reliable results unaffected by factors that create errors in other diffusive samplers – such as matrix concentrations, varying humidities, and fluctuating face velocities. An HDS™ sample is easily collected based upon the reproducible diffusion of helium, creating a vacuum that pulls air in actively as helium escapes. A surrogate recovery compound is added to prove recovery during laboratory analysis.

Entech Instruments - Micro-Valves QT/QT2 Valves

The internal Silonite® coated sealing spring in a MicroValve™ is stronger than those used in Swagelok® Miniature Quick Connects, to further reduce the potential for leaks even at cold storage temperatures (-15°C). A compression fitting cap is also available, which when used with the MicroValve™ creates a lower combined leak rate than any other currently accepted canister valve.

Entech Instruments - TM 1200 Canister Sampling Timer

The TM1200 is Entech’s next generation canister sampling timer that automatically starts and stops the sampling process at specic times. Now you can easily start a 24 hour sample at midnight and stop it at midnight the following night without having to be present. Typically operated with our CS1200Ex canister sampler to time integrate the sampling event for a 24 hour sample, the TM1200 creates an optimized solution by exposing the collected sample to a very short, inert flow path for maximum compound recovery and minimal carryover.

Entech Instruments - MiniCans / BottleVacs for Helium Diffusion Sampling

Two indoor air HDS™ sampling versions are available from Entech, 1) MiniCan™ and Bottle-Vac Samplers (detailed below) that feature special HDS™ MicroValves that are optimized for standard sampling event durations – the diffusion zone exists inside of the fitting. 2) Controlled helium / air exchange with an external HDS™ diffusion zone fitting (opposite page) that is designed to attach directly to a standard Micro-QT™ valve.
