Environmental impact assessment (EIA) is a statutory requirement for certain specified developments according to directives of European Union as well as the Slovak EIA Act.

ENVIGEO is one of the Slovak’s leading environmental consultancies in the field of contaminated sites assessment and management, for public and private sector clients, in the business for more than 10 years. Soil and ground water contamination may carry significant liabilities for owners or users of a site. Contamination must be considered along with a range of technical, engineering, economic and planning factors so that a systematic and cost-effective risk management solution can be developed.

Based on Slovak national law, risk analysis became respected tool for risk assessment and management in Slovakia. New implemented law (Act No. 409/2011 Coll on Some Measures Concerning Environmental Loads ...) restricts property transfers without good knowledge on contamination if present, based on detailed geological investigation and risk analysis. ENVIGEO provides risk analysis either as a part of the complex services, including geological investigation of contaminated site and even remediation or independently, according to client needs.

Environmental audit provides client with information how the environmental matters are managed and addressed throughout an audited organisation. ENVIGEO has experienced stuff in many areas of work. This provides our clients with a wide range of experience and depth of knowledge, enabling risks to be systematically identified, qualified and prioritised.

Investigation of contaminated site followed by the risk analysis (feasibility study) usually results in clean-up action - remediation. Remediation should decrease the risk below the acceptable level, in long term and sustainable way, with regard to the present and/or future landuse. ENVIGEO provides remediation services as a separate product or in a complex with investigation and other contaminated site related services. ENVIGEO is able to provide remediation even in very difficult geological condition, including remediation of volatile organic compounds (VOC).

ENVIGEO offers construction and operation of ground water quality monitoring systems. These services are often part of bigger projects (Contaminated Sites Assessment and Remediation, Hydrogeology), but sometimes there is need to develop and operate single purpose monitoring system, typically at landfills.

Elaboration of Environmental Development Plan is a new product of ENVIGEO. Environmental Development Plan is a tool, how to prevent environmental damage during the development of big infrastructure projects (highways) or any development in environmentally sensitive areas, e.g. contaminated sites. Slovak state authorities have started to require elaboration of Environmental Development Plan prior to development, based on new environmental legislation, coming to Slovakia from European Union. ENVIGEO has been within the first consultancies providing such a product for developers.

ENVIGEO was established in 1994 by professionals - mostly geologists - from previous state company Geological Survey. Geological Survey had monopoly on investigation of ore and industrial mineral deposits within the Slovakia before 1989. Though services provided by ENVIGEO have changed to much wider range since 1994, ENVIGEO still remains respected geological consulting company in Slovakia.

ENVIGEO provides a wide range of services in engineering geology and geotechnics.

Commercial hydrogeology consists usually form services related to water resources management.  Our clients also require hydrogeological consultancy on installation and performance of  heat pumps. ENVIGEO’s qualified professionals provide technical and consultancy services through the whole range of these services. Although the basic principles of hydrogeology are not difficult to understand, some aspects of hydrogeology are very complex, multi-component systems that are difficult to determine through direct measurement, and are therefore determined through ground water modelling. Computer modelling of ground water flow and contaminant migration is also provided, using Visual MODFLOW Pro software package.
