It is vitally important for project teams to identify the project stakeholders for the various project phases and their varying degrees of authority, influence and expectations. Project teams must understand the overall stakeholder community and determine the optimum level of effort to allocate to each stakeholder. Then, they need to strike a balance between the effort needed to maintain supportive stakeholders and the effort to minimize the impact of those stakeholders who are not as supportive.

This course focuses on the important and critical front-end planning phases. It introduces participants to project management planning essentials regarding such topics as planning strategies for ramping up projects, balancing scope, schedule and cost; balancing and assessing strong/diverse stakeholder needs, performance reporting considerations, aspects of contract/procurement management as well as risk management. Environmental & Community Development Project Planning Workshop: Addressing environmental, economic and climate change impacts are critical components of many First Nations, Metis & Inuit communities project initiatives. A fundamental objective is to ensure healthy and sustainable communities. This requires a meticulous approach to project planning, organization, communications with members, implementation and documentation. This 3-day training session focuses on environmental, renewable energy and community development projects and takes participants through project conception (relationship/role of projects to comprehensive community development plans), definition, planning, implementation and close-out phases.
