Energy Star For Homes

Homes that earn the ENERGY STAR Home designation must meet the US EPA`s guidelines for energy efficiency. Homes that qualify for the ENERGY STAR designation are 15% more efficient than homes built to the International Residential Code of 2004. These homes usually have several energy efficient features, including more effective insulation, air-tight construction and ductwork, high performance windows and doors, efficient heating/cooling systems and Energy Star lighting and appliances. These features not only improve comfort but lower energy consumption, reduce carbon emissions and improve indoor air quality. Our building performance specialists will work with new or existing construction to provide the required third-party verification of your building. An independent inspection after work has been completed will assure that the home meets the strict standards for ENERGY STAR Home certification.

Energy Star For Healthcare

Healthcare organizations use large amounts of energy each year to meet the needs of patients. Industry sources estimate that healthcare facilities in the U.S. spend approximately $5.3 billion annually for energy costs alone. What`s more, considerable escalation of energy costs are predicted for the near future. FACT: a nonprofit healthcare organization that saves $1 on energy is essentially adding $20 to the bottom line if a hospital and $10 to the bottom line if a medical office. The healthcare sector ranks second only to the food service sector in energy use, with the inpatient care facility being the sector`s largest energy consumer and produce of greenhouse gas. American hospitals use approximately twice the energy as office buildings of the same size, and roughly twice the energy of comparable European hospitals. What is the Audit Form?
The ESG Commercial Building Audit Form (CBAF) is a 6-page self-audit document designed for owners, office managers, facility managers, custodial staff and engineers who want to learn how to improve the energy efficiency and cut costs for a commercial or municipal building. While the CBAF is a `must` for buildings up to 50,000 SF, managers of larger buildings can benefit from the audit as well.

The main differences between ESG`s CBAF and other self-audit instruments are:
most self-audit instruments are designed for residential buildings;
the personal analysis and recommendations of an ESG Energy auditor supported by a team of experts

There is no doubt that the temperature of the earth has been steadily increasing since the Industrial Revolution. While scientists dispute the cause, the earth keeps getting warmer - a condition that is leading to more intense storms and other climactic changes that may soon be irreversible. If everyone in the industrialized world was mindful of these conditions and made a few simple changes in their habits, the temperature of the earth would be likely to stabilize. There is no harm that can come from preventing further increases in the earth`s temperature, but the consequences will probably be huge if we do not.
