Indoor Air Quality Services

Technical expertise to identify and implement management solutions for all aspects of indoor air quality. Indoor air quality is an issue of increasing importance within the built environment. As the average individual spends a large proportion of time indoors, and with the presence of small amounts of contaminants magnified by being contained, the quality of the indoor environment can have a significant impact on the occupants’ perception of the workplace and their health.

Asbestos Services

Technical expertise to assist clients to identify and manage asbestos containing materials within buildings. It`s the fibres you can’t see that if inhaled can lead to several asbestos related diseases. Past exposure to asbestos kills around 3,000 people a year and this number is expected to rise further. The exposure to asbestos for most of these cases will have occurred in the past, however, the potential for further exposure in uncontrolled situations still exists and controls are required to prevent this.

Environment Services

Support for managing environmental issues for the built and natural environment from the provision of monitoring services to advice on remediation. The environment is an issue of truly global proportion but with a local root. The actions or choices of individuals and organisations contribute to effect beneficially or otherwise the environment. Many actions create readily apparent effects on a local level but less obvious are those actions that contribute to global issues. On a local level, best practice, good stewardship and awareness of international concerns can enable organisations to build practical environmental protection into their operational schemes.

Legionella Services

Technical expertise to assist client organisations in establishing detailed risk assessment for all site water systems and associated support. Employers are required to control the risk of exposure to Legionella bacteria in accordance with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (as amended). This is achieved by following the Approved Code of Practice L8,2013: The Control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems and associated guidance, HSG274.

Health and Safety Services

Support for managing health and safety from the provision of subject specific assessment and training to formulation of policy and procedure documentation. Employers have a duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of their employees at work. For non-domestic premises this also applies to people who simply use the premises. The scope of health and safety issues, regulation and guidance continues to broaden into all aspects, from pavements to complex machinery. Many issues are controlled by a common sense approach but regardless of the perceived level of risk, health and safety requires control and the consequences of failure can be severe.

Technical expertise to identify and implement management solutions for all aspects of water systems. First Environment provides the technical expertise to assist clients in developing and implementing management solutions for all aspects of their water system.

CDM Coordinator Services

First Environment is able to assist clients in performing the role of CDM Coordinator, also assisting the other duty holders in fulfilling their obligations under the CDM Regulations 2007. Principal Duty Holders under the CDM Regulations 2007 include the Client, Architect, CDM Coordinator & Principal Contractor. The CDM Coordinator is appointed by the Client but does not take the ultimate liability away from the Client. The CDM Coordinator advises and ensures that measures are implemented, if required to ensure compliance.
