Geotechnical Engineering

Geologic Assessments for Regulated Activities Over the Edwards Recharge/Transition Zone. Frost GeoSciences has performed hundreds of Geologic Assessments along the San Antonio/Austin corridor, and is well-versed in the requirements and standards of the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality (TCEQ), formerly the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission (TNRCC).

Geotechnical Engineering Services

Geotechnical engineering is one of the most specialized disciplines in the ever changing world of engineering, technology and construction. Geotechnical engineers are often called upon to integrate theory, state-of-the-art practices and economic trade-offs to develop sound and feasible solutions to subsurface conditions and problems. In order to accomplish this, geotechnical engineers must rely on the knowledge of civil engineering, geology, hydrology, and knowledge of soil and rock mechanics to predict the compatibility of man-made structures with the underlying soil and rock materials.

Construction Materials Testing Services

Construction Materials Testing services offered by Frost GeoSciences, including the analysis of the engineering and physical properties of construction materials and manufactured products, may greatly diminish the probability for issues that may arise during construction. Frost GeoSciences may also assist in studies of faulty or damaged structural materials, products or elements. Destructive and non-destructive testing programs may be employed to derive this valuable information.

Construction Observation and Testing

Frost GeoSciences offers a full array of field observation and testing services related to soils, concrete, asphalt, steel and foundations during the construction phase of a project. This aids in lessening the possibility for issues that may arise with materials, products, or procedures during construction. As required, or when project size warrants, our engineers perform field observation and testing services. On other projects, field observation and testing services are accomplished by our experienced engineering technicians. All field services are performed under the direction of a licensed professional engineer, using our own equipment, which is maintained regularly and calibrated annually by independent certifying agencies.

Forensics Engineering

The construction and maintenance of facilities represents an enormous investment to its owners and operators. Typically, the performance of most facilities will not be `perfect,` but will be within the tolerances designed by the project design team. However, some facilities will develop problems during or after construction, or sometime during their design life. These problems often represent a significant threat to the serviceability of the facility and the investment that it represents. As a result, the retention of an engineering firm with forensics engineering experience is a must in order to determine the cause of the problems and to develop cost effective solutions for repair or remediation.

Enviornmental Services

Phase I - Environmental Site Assessments

Frost GeoSciences has performed over 1,000 Phase I - Environmental Site Assessments in Texas since 1988.

Phase II - Environmental Site Assessments

Frost GeoSciences also performs Phase II - Environmental Site Assessments to follow up on issues identified in Phase I - Environmental Site Assessments as areas of potential concern. The specific tasks performed in the Phase II - Environmental Site Assessments vary depending on the issues identified but can include the following: Soil/Water testing for contaminants. Screening for asbestos-containing materials and lead-based paint. Routine/Intermediate Level Wetland Investigations. Endangered Species Surveys Reports.

Threatened and Endangered Species Survey

Frost GeoSciences has performed endangered species surveys across all parts of Texas. Reports prepared by Frost GeoSciences can be used in the completion of the Notice of Intent (NOI) Form, required by municipalities for development in areas possibly inhabited by threatened or endangered species.

Wetland Investigations

Frost GeoSciences is well-versed with the standards to perform Wetland Investigations established by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and the Federal Interagency Committee for Wetland Delineation (FICWD).
