The First-DNA all-tissue kit extracts pure, high-molecular genomic DNA without the use of toxic substances. The use for forensic materials, as well as for food, plants, animals, bacteria and yeasts, and the exceptionally high DNA yield, make the test kit an indispensable part of any molecular genetics laboratory.

The method is based on spin column technology. After chemical lysis of the cells, the DNA binds to a silica membrane. Cell residues, salts and inhibitors are removed by washing steps. The DNA is released from the silica membrane by heating in TE or H₂O. The kit is robust against strongly acidic or alkaline, contaminant-rich and difficult to isolate samples. The DNA is of high purity and is available for further molecular biological analyses (e.g. real-time PCR, sequencing….)

Microbial DNA extraction from samples with a high yeast content; The microbiological detection of beer spoiling bacteria and wild yeasts in the brewing process is an important part of hygiene monitoring in breweries. In particular, samples with high yeast cell counts (e.g. fermentation tank, storage tank, propagation) and autolytic by-products such as proteins, fats, polysaccharides pose are a major challenge. Taking these factors into account, a practical DNA extraction process was developed in cooperation with a brewery.
