N-Blend/DBB
Denitrification-based bioremediation (DBB) is a unique approach to bioremediation that uses nitrates as both electron acceptors and sources of nutrient nitrogen to promote anaerobic biodegradation and oxidation processes in soils, aquifer media and ground water contaminated with gasoline, diesel fuel, home-heating oil and other relatively low molecular weight petroleum products and organic contaminants in soil and ground water. As DBB is an anaerobic process, it works with, not against, the anaerobic and reducing conditions that typify source areas characterized by residual NAPLs and high levels of sorbed-phase contamination. DBB has routinely been used for the effective in-situ treatment of fine-grained media, building foundations and logistically complicated and/or busy industrial sites that are impractical to excavate or treat using other remediation processes.
EZ-Ox - Innovative Product for Aerobic Bioremediation
EZ-Ox is a proprietary (patents pending) solid-chemical composition that provides a sustained release of oxygen and phosphate nutrients into contaminated aquifers and environmental media.EZ-Ox was specifically developed to provide improved means for the aerobic bioremediation of dissolved-phase hydrocarbons in ground-water aquifers and aquifer media.EZ-Ox contains more than 50% more oxygen, pound-for-pound, than the leading competitor’s product. EZ-Ox is not recommended for treatment of source areas containing free “product.
Substrate Release Composition (SRC)
Source-area bioremediation for chlorinated solvents is complicated by the complex migration of DNAPLs and the high proportion of sorbed-phase contaminant mass in the aquifer media compared to the relatively minor CVOC mass in ground water. Desorption of aquifer bound CVOCs is typically the rate-limiting factor for source-area remediation, such that effective bioremediation may be properly viewed as a long-term process.
BioGeoCheMix
BioGeoCheMix is an advanced solid chemical composition (patents pending) that incorporates a complex suite of both organic and inorganic amendments. BioGeoCheMix is designed for the anaerobic remediation and biologically mediated chemical reduction of extremely recalcitrant halogenated organic compounds such as DDT, toxaphene, and PCBs. The value-added forms of BioGeoCheMix such as pellets, granules, and briquettes simplify its application to contaminated soils and sediments. These forms are designed to sink in water and into aqueous sediments, enabling the remediation of difficult environments such as wetlands, rivers, lakes, lagoons and the like.
FibreSorb
FibreSorb is a biodegradable absorbent for the clean up of surface spills of hydrocarbon products and for the bioremediation of hydrocarbon-contaminated soils. FibreSorb is a patent-pending blend of cotton and other plant-based materials with additional nutrients, enzymes and microorganisms that enhance the biodegradation of both the FibreSorb and petroleum hydrocarbons absorbed therein. The “used” FibreSorb can either be left in place to biodegrade over time (see photos at right) or swept up and placed in a compost pile or container to promote the biodegradation of the FibreSorb product and the co-metabolic bioremediation of the petroleum hydrocarbons absorbed within the FibreSorb, eliminating the need for the disposal of contaminated wastes.
