HUSS - Diesel Particulate Filters System with Diesel Burner

The filter gets loaded with soot during driving operations. Consequently the backpressure is rising which indicates the load level of the filter. The HUSS control monitors the main conditions of the filter continuously. When the maximum allowed backpressure level is reached, the HUSS control alerts the driver and the filter needs a regeneration. The regeneration starts by pushing a button while the engine is shut-off.  Depending on the filter size this process takes about 25-40 minutes. After a complete regeneration the soot loading process can start again.

The MD-system regenerates during driving operations either active or passive. When the exhaust gas temperature is sufficient the filter regenerates passive. If the temperature is not high enough, the filter can be regenerated actively on the base of engine external diesel post injection. A diesel oxidation catalyst, upstream the particulate trap, provides the necessary temperature increase. Still, a decent exhaust gas temperature is necessary to make the system work reliable.

The MC-systems wins over its simplicity. After an easy integration into the exhaust line the system simply does its job. The surface of the channels of the particulate trap are coated with a thin layer of precious materials. The catalytic effect enables to burn soot below the regular soot ignition temperature. Two assumptions needs to be achieved compulsory: the exhaust gas temperature needs to be higher than 270°C in at least 40% of the working time. Additionally, the ratio between NOx and PM needs to 12:1 or higher.

The W-system consists of an exhaust inlet chamber that is installed at the vehilce. Furthermore the filter cartridges and the external regeneration oven are part of the system. The W-system is ideal for engines up to 100 kW performance. In case a twin-system can be installed the engine performance is raised.
