Cone Penetration Test (CPT)

Electric Conductivity Sensor (ECPT)

With the ECPT sensor you measure the conductivity of the soil while performing standard CPTU test. Test results can be used for analysing salinity and detection of pollutants. The electric conductivity sensor is mounted on Geotechs 10 cm2 CPTU probes. The adapter consists of an array of four ring electrodes (Wenner configuration, i.e. with equal spacing between the electrodes). The CPTU probe with the electric conductivity sensor is used with cable or cordless data transmission. The probe is pressed into the ground in the same way as other Geotech CPT probes and readings are made every second.

Cone Penetration Test

Seismic test are carried out to measure shear (S wave) and compression wave (P wave) velocities in soils. The SCPT method combines the seismic test with results from the CPTU probe, and will give you a good basis for evaluation of a number of critical soil properties, e.g. the risk for liquefaction.

Rigs

GEORIG - Multipurpose Drilling Rig

GEORIG 607 is a multipurpose drilling rig mainly intended for methods commonly used in Sweden, Norway and Finland. It is powered by a 126 kW diesel engine, Tier 4 & Stage 3b. The rig supports all geotechnical in-situ investigation methods commonly used in the Nordic countries, such as Norwegian Total Sounding, Swedish JB, Swedish weight sounding, dynamic sounding, CPTU, Vane tesing and more. The rig can in addition be used for sampling. The rig is equipped with Geotech Digital System, GDS, which allows you to pre-set all parameters digitally. Parameters such as penetration speed, feed force, rotation and more is set individually for each investigation method. GEORIG 607 is normally equipped with sensors for feed force/speed, rotation/torque, scavenging water, depth etcetera. Our innovative design nearly eliminates the friction between the yoke and mast giving a high accuracy and resolution in the feed force measurements.

GEORIG - Multipurpose Drilling Rig

GEORIG 605 is a multipurpose drilling rig mainly intended for methods commonly used in Sweden, Norway and Finland. It is powered by a 105 kW diesel engine. The rig is equipped for most geotechnical investigation methods used in the area such as Norwegian Total Sounding, Swedish JB, Swedish weight sounding, dynamic sounding, CPTU, Vane tesing and more. The rig can in addition be used for sampling. GEORIG 605 is equipped with standard sensors for feed force, rotation and depth. Our innovative design nearly eliminates the friction between the yoke and mast giving a high accuracy and resolution in the feed force parameter which is used in rotary/percussion sounding.

GEORIG - Multipurpose Drilling Rig

GEORIG 504 is a multipurpose drilling rig powered by a 36 kW diesel engine or a 50 kW diesel engine Tier 4 & Stage 3b. The rig can be equipped for most geotechnical investigation methods such as soil rock drilling, swedish weight sounding, dynamic sounding/SPT, CPT and more. GEORIG 504 is equipped with three standard sensors, feed force, rotation and depth. Our innovative design nearly eliminates the friction between the yoke and mast giving a high accuracy and resolution in the feed force parameter which is used in rotary/percussion sounding.

GEORIG - Rig

GEORIG 220 is designed for CPT/CPTU and static penetration and has a pushing capacity of 200 kN. With optional equipment it is also possible to perform dynamic sounding/SPT, vane testing and sampling. The feed force is adjustable from 0 up to 200 kN. Equipped with an overload control unit it is also possible to pre-set a maximum resistance when the hydraulics should be shut off, this is collected from the point resistance in the probe. The main cylinders who are used for pushing and pulling is controlled by two valves which one is adjustable for pre-setting to appropriate speed (eg. 20mm/sec for CPT) and the other is "full" speed.

Piezometer

Piezometer

Geotech’s integrated electronic “direct push” piezometer is available with or without logging memory and can be used for permanent installation or reused in short-time pore pressure monitoring projects. Geotech electrical piezometers can be pushed statically directly into the ground without pre-drilling*. Monitoring of the pressure sensor can be done during the installation to secure the function and that installation been done properly. Hard surface and layers might need pre-drilling. Logging Piezometer- The piezometer with built-in logging memory is programmed to automatically record data in intervals from once per day up to once every minut. The logging interval is programmed upon installation and can easily be changed from any computer using our software, PVT-LOG, which is also used for uploading recorded data. The built-in battery will last for more than ten years when logging data every hour.

Open Standpipe Piezometer

Geotech open standpipe piezometers for measuring ground water level are made of sintered bronze filters and can be directly pushed into the soil without pre-drilling. The piezometer is used together with 1` tubes where standard water level meters are lowered into. It is also possible to use a hose for quicker detection of ground water changes. The hose is connected to the filter and instead of measure the water level in the tubes the water level is measured in the hose which is only 8 mm in diameter. For this application we haev a water level meter with a coaxial cable for lowering into the hose.

CPT/Piezocone

Geotech - Probes Use On Land As Well As Offshore

The Geotech Nova CPTU probes are designed for use on land as well as off shore, and give accurate measurements of cone resistance (qc), sleeve friction (fs), pore pressure (u) and inclination. The probes can optionally be equipped with temperature sensor. Options for sintered pore pressure filters in u1 and u2 positions as well as slot filters are available. The equipment is available with wireless or cable-based communication from the probe to the surface equipment, facilitating full data transfer and near real-time presentation on the operator’s screen. The equipment is also available in a memory-based offline version with user-friendly data synchronization.

Geotech - Measure Shear Wave Velocity for Seismic CPT

Measure shear wave velocity while doing CPTU investigations. Shear wave velocity has become an increasingly important parameter for our understanding of soil behaviour, e.g. when planning for construction of windmills, high-speed rails or when building in earthquake zones.
