HIBON was founded in 1899. At that time, it was a small cycle and gear manufacturing company also handling automobile repairs.

Thirteen years later, it built the first rotary vaned combustion motor which subsequently became a viscous liquid rotary pump.

In 1924, Georges HIBON moved from the automobile motor repairs towards the manufacturing and under the brand name 'de Bazelaire' tried a short penetration into the world of automobile construction.

Automobiles were soon left aside by the grandsons of the founder who opted for pumps and compressors, the company's real assets.

In 1945, HIBON was already one of the best French specialists in the field.

HIBON grew considerably and began to export widely around 1960.

At that time, the premises were extended and the HIBON brothers decided to build an assembly hall and a new test bench.

In 1986, the commercial holding HIBON INTERNATIONAL S.A. was created, and Ets. G. HIBON were bought out by a team of executives. The same year, the marketing subsidiary HIBON N.V. was founded in Brussels and our Canadian company, purchased under the name of DENTECH in 1987 became HIBON Inc. Quebec with an office in Ontario in 1992.

In 1987, the quality of the Hibon production has been particularly highlighted. It was awarded the 'Golden Laurel' for quality and industrial technique.

This award led to an RAQ-2 certificate, granted by the Service de la Surveillance Industrielle de l'Armement in 1984 then renewed in 1990 and 1993.

In 1988, HIBON joined the British Industrial group E.I.S. group PLC (Electrical Industrial Services).

In 1995, our quality assurance system has been certified ISO 9001, further proof of our industrial dynamism.

In July 1998, TI GROUP PLC takes over the EIS GROUP PLC and consequently HIBON is part of the John CRANE Division.

In December 2001, HIBON SAS is part of BOC Edwards, BOC Edwards was a trading name of The BOC Group plc.

On October 2, 2006 Ingersoll Rand has acquired the global low-pressure air business of BOC Edwards.

HIBON, located in France (Wasquehal) has got subsidiaries in Montreal, Canada.

Hibon low pressure products have been sold under the Hibon, Wilhelm Klein and Hick Hargreaves brand names.

'This acquisition augments our leadership as a global provider of innovative and comprehensive compressed air solutions,' said Herbert L. Henkel, chairman, president and chief executive officer for Ingersoll Rand. 'Through this transaction, we will be able to extend the range of innovative compressed air technologies and services we can provide to diverse markets, such as industrial, environmental, transportation and power, as well as widen our global distribution network.'

Hibon becomes then the Low Pressure Business Unit and operates as part of Ingersoll Rand Air Solutions, a business unit of Ingersoll Rand's Industrial Technologies Sector.
