Current Meters
Aquadopp - Versatile Ocean Current Meter
The 6000m Aquadopp is `the big brother` in the line of Aquadopp models. The all-titanium mechanical housing is built to last at great ocean depths. The overall design is the results of a testing and verification process that has included many of the world`s largest oceanographic institutions.
Aquadopp - Versatile Ocean Current Meter
The 3000m Aquadopp is designed for deployments down to 3000m and it has all the capabilities of the standard Aquadopp. It is a modern, yet well-proven instrument and it undoubtedly the most versatile single-point current meter on the market. Relative to the standard system, it has a larger diameter (about 84mm vs. 75mm) but it is still made of all plastic parts. As a result, the 3000m model is lighter than the pure-titanium 6000m model and it represents an affordable alternative for the deployment in intermediate waters.
Aquadopp - Seabird Inductive Modem Module
Aquadopp - Seabird Inductive Modem Module
In the Aquadopp IM6000, we have extended the Seabird Inductive Modem Module (IMM) to the 6000 m Aquadopp. As with the shallow water system (IM400), this system is designed for operation on long mooring cables with the data being transferred along the jacketed steel cable to a controlling modem that is located in a surface buoy or similar.
Current Profilers
Aquadopp - Current Profilers
In the new Aquadopp Z-Cell*, Nortek has extended the profiling range by introducing a “Cell Zero”. This new feature is generated by an extra set of horizontal transducers. The transducers operate at a different frequency (2 MHz) and provide the 2D current velocity at the level of the instrument.
Current Profilers
Signature - Current Profilers
The first instrument in the Nortek Signature Series product line, the Signature55, employs AD2CP technology to extend the range of the Nortek brand of acoustic Doppler current profilers to as far as 1000 meters.
Velocimeters
Vector - 3D Acoustic Velocimeter
The Vector 3D current meter collects high-resolution velocity and pressure data in rapidly change environments. Based on processing schemes originally developed for the Nortek Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter, the system electronics integrates unique Doppler velocity measurements with standard sensors such as temperature, pressure, tilt, and compass. State-of-the-art power management and miniaturized electronics combine in a compact single-canister design that is suitable for real time operation or self-contained deployments. In addition to continuous sampling the Vector also supports burst sampling, where data are sampled rapidly for a short period of time before it "sleeps" to preserve battery power and recorder memory.
Vectrino - High-Resolution Acoustic Velocimeter
The Vectrino is a high-resolution acoustic velocimeter used to measure 3D water velocity in a wide variety of applications from the laboratory to the ocean. The basis measurement technology is coherent Doppler processing, which is characterized by accurate data with no appreciable zero offset.
Wave Systems
Aquadopp - Acoustic Doppler Profilers and Velocimeters
Acoustic Doppler profilers and velocimeters can measure wave height and direction while deployed safely on the bottom of the ocean. The AWAC is perhaps the most well respected, sophisticated and frequently used acoustic Doppler profiler and directional wave gauge. Using Acoustic Surface Tracking (AST), the AWAC will make high quality wave measurements deployed up to 50 m below the surface. Further, the SUV measurement method will allow the AWAC to be deployed on a subsurface buoy if the total water depth is deeper than 50 m. The AWAC is well suited for real-time ocean observing systems when integrated with the NIP processor and Nortek underwater acoustic modems. The AWAC is most commonly used in water depth from 5-50 m.
