The Model NRF40 Electronic Personal Dosimeter (EPD) is designed to support official dose of record tracking and is enclosed in a ruggedized enclosure. It employs a silicon diode detector that measures dose rate from 1 to 999.9 mrem/h and tracks dose from 1 to 999.9 rem. Alarms can be set for each as well as stay times so workers are advised of how long they can remain in the present field before exceeding their dose limit. The dosimeter operates for approximately one year with an off-the-shelf battery. Initiating power is performed by removing a pin. Optional storage racks with built-in pins automatically turn these devices on and off whenever users insert or remove the dosimeters. This instrument also offers an accumulated total and timer function, up to 9,999,000 counts and 40 hours. A red LED blinks and a beeper chirps with each count (the chirp can be muted).
