The QUILTON automatic bar screen for roughing removes medium and large-sized solids from the wastewaters that arrive heavily laden at the plants. The spacing determines whether the automatic bar screen is used for large items (12-25 mm) or very large ones (30-100 mm). The solids retained are cleaned and removed by an autoptic comb.

The QUILTON passive intake screen is designed to capture water from rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and the sea, with no visual impact. It consists of a submergible static filter that has no moving parts and is made of stainless steel. Its plain, smooth surface is made up of V-shaped profiles and its low suction speed means it only requires a small inlet diameter. The spacing is normally between 1 mm and 10 mm, depending on the installation’s requirements. 

Screw conveyors are used mainly for moving solids in WWTPs. This equipment ensures that all the solids produced by roughing and desanding are easily moved and discharged. The structure and design of QUILTON screw conveyors involves a spiral without a central shaft that is extremely robust and made of thick steel. The spiral section is reinforced in some applications for greater strength and transport capacity. It is also equipped with a low-rev gear motor. QUILTON shaftless screw conveyors replace standard conveyor belts because of their safety and cleanliness.

The QUILTON compacting conveyor takes a single step to transport, compact, dry and discharge the solids retained and decanted by screening in WWTPs and industrial processes. The adjustment of the length of the spiral and the pressure exerted by the outlet flapper are used to regulate the compacting process in the pressing area, which means variations in the feed do not influence the process’s results. The volume of solids is reduced to between 35% and 40% of the initial content.

A QUILTON hydraulic waste compactor is used to transport, compact, and dehydrate wastes and other damp or wet materials obtained from the screening of urban or industrial wastewaters. The wastewaters are discharged into an inlet hopper, where a piston moves, compacts, and dehydrates the wastes. The hydraulic waste compactor’s load capacity varies according to the piston`s diameter and the number of cycles it performs. Prior to the actual treatment process itself, raw waters generally undergo a pre-treatment that involves a series of physical and mechanical steps designed to decant from the wastewater the largest possible amount of materials whose nature or size would cause problems in subsequent treatment processes. The problems associated with the deficient quality of the raw water (septicity, large variations in flow and/or load, industrial discharges, etc.) inform the need for the pre-treatment to include other mechanical or chemical steps designed to improve the quality of those waters to ensure a better performance by downstream processes or avoid environmental issues. The use of a pretreatment compact plant in small premises may be the most versatile solution and significantly reduce the building work required.
