Air Tightness Testing Services

Air Tightness testing, also known as an air leakage, air infiltration or air permeability test is a test to indicate the cubic metres of air leakage per square metre of external area of the building per hour - [m3 m-2 h-1]. Air leakage can occur through gaps and cracks in the fabric of the building envelope, allowing heat to escape, thus driving up heating bills and C02 production. Part L of the Building Regulations requires that new-build domestic dwellings are tested for air leakage. One of our consultants will be happy to discuss your Air testing requirements for your development.

Sound Insulation Testing Services

SES is UKAS accredited to undertake Sound Insulation Testing and can provide free testing programmes tailored specifically to your project/development at proposal stage. If you have been asked for a sound test by Building Control and don`t really know what this involves or simply want a better view on the testing procedures, this section should enlighten you on the topic.

Code for Sustainable Homes Assessments (CSH)

Launched by the Government in 2007 the Code for Sustainable Homes replaces EcoHomes as the National standard to be used in the design and construction of new-build residential properties in England. Home Quality Mark Assessments

To fill the void left by the Code for Sustainable Homes, the BRE is introducing the Home Quality Mark; a voluntary scheme which puts the end user at the heart of the assessment. The Home Quality Mark will enable housing developers to showcase the quality of their new homes, and identify them as having the added benefits of being likely to need less maintenance, cheaper to run, better located, and more able to cope with the demands of a changing climate. Issues considered under the new domestic assessment scheme include; building quality, running costs and the local environment.
