Uppers Air

YES - Model XDD-938 - Expendable Digital Radiosonde

The Model XDD-938 Expendable Digital Radiosonde conducts precise upper air observations using Global Positioning system (GPS) wind finding technology. It is the first system capable of both radiosonde and dropsonde sounding modes, providing vertical profiles of 3D pressure, temperature, humidity and winds. It can either be released manually or used in the Model ARL-9000 launcher, which includes an integrated METHUB ground station. When supplied with its available 4Hz GPS and IR sea surface temperature sensor options, the XDR can be used with the mobile METHUB for UAV or research aircraft profiling of hurricanes.

Yes - Model ARL-9000 and ARL-9100 - Automated Radiosonde Launcher

The Models ARL-9000 and ARL-9100 Automated Radiosonde Launchers (ARL) are low-cost systems that permit unattended upper air observations. They are robust and fault-tolerant systems that automate radiosonde observations. They are compatible with a variety of commercial radiosondes. The ARL is ideal for remote locations, manpower limited operations, and mobile requirements. The ARL takes a manually intensive task and reduces it to a periodic maintenance routine. Because the ARL automates every step in the launch process it frees personnel to perform more important value-added tasks, and virtually eliminates human errors. At remote sites, it reduces exposure of personnel to hazardous and/or undesirable environmental conditions.

Solar Radiation

YES - Model MFR-7 - Multifilter Rotating Shadowband Radiometer

The Multifilter Rotating Shadowband Radiometer (MFR-7) measures total, diffuse, and direct irradiance at six wavelengths (415, 500, 615, 673, 870, and 940 nm, each 10 nm FWHM) in the visible/NIR, and includes one unfiltered broad-band silicon pyranometer. Thermally stabilized, environmentally sealed state-of-the-art interference filters provide excellent long term calibration stability. Instead of using rotating filter wheels, the MFR-7 makes measurements simultaneously across all seven channels, meeting the Baseline Solar Radiation Network`s requirements for atmospheric turbidity measurements.

Yes - Model UVMFR-7 - Ultraviolet Multifilter Rotating Shadowband Radiometer

The Ultraviolet Multifilter Rotating Shadowband Radiometer (UVMFR) measures total, diffuse, and direct irradiance at seven narrowband wavelengths in the UV-B and UV-A regions. The shadowband enables the instrument to measure all three components of solar irradiance with one detector. The UVMFR-7 system includes the YESDAS-2 datalogger and data analysis software. The MFR-7, a shadowband instrument for the visible/NIR, is also available.

Sky Imaging

YES - Model TSI-880 - Total Sky Imager

The Model TSI-880 Total Sky Imager is an automatic, full-color sky imager system that provides real-time display of daytime sky conditions. At many sites, the accurate determination of sky conditions is a highly desirable yet rarely attainable goal. Traditionally, human observers reported sky conditions, resulting in considerable discrepancies from subjective observations. In practice, the use of human observers is not always feasible due to budgetary constraints.

Yes - Model TSI-440 - Total Sky Imager

The Model TSI-440 Total Sky Imager is a full color sky camera and software package that offers the forecaster as well as the atmospheric research community an easy-to-use and reliable field sensor for sky imaging. The TSI is designed for long-term field installations and features state-of-the-art camera optics as well as user-serviceable mirror components. The system captures images into industry-standard JPEG format data files, which are then analyzed for parameters such as fractional cloud cover. For installations where the TSI can be connected to a TCP/IP network, the system acts as a sky image server to World-Wide-Web browsers on the Internet.

Precipitation

Yes - Model TMS - Total Meteorology Station

The Model TMS Total Meteorology Station provides real time snow and liquid precipitation rates at remote automated weather stations. It represents the first fundamental breakthrough in basic precipitation measurement in several decades, and is ideal for mission-critical meteorological and aviation or surface transportation applications. Because it has no moving parts and does not require anti-freeze (as do conventional weighing precipitation gauges), it provides both high accuracy and superior reliability over the entire ± 50° C operating range.

YES - Model TPC-3000 - Total Precipitation Collector

The Model TPC-3000 Total Precipitation Collector is a state-of-the-art automated wet deposition sampler designed for remote operation. It consists of a wet deposition collection bucket that is normally covered by a motor operated lid during non-precipitation events.

Surface Weather

YES - Model TMS-7200 - Total Meterological Sensor

The TMS-7200 Total Meteorological Sensor is a rapid setup emergency response remote surface weather monitoring sensor for HAZMAT, wildland fire fighting and homeland security/homeland defense applications.

Yes - Model WEB-8700 - Weather Web Remote Observation System

The Weather Web™ Remote Observation System software framework provides rapid emergency response teams with real time meteorological parameters from multiple, spatially-separated locations. It can be rapidly deployed and provides a robust and fully automated system for continuous unattended observations across a metropolitan area. The core component of a Weather Web is METDAS software that provides real-time display and data feed to HPAC Transport and Dispersion plume models. METDAS provides decision makers with life-saving information about the direction of chem-bio plumes or fire line progress, driven in real time by wind data.
