  • Geosynthetic Lining for Mining Industry

Geosynthetics are used in construction of various components of modern mining facilities, including process solution ponds, heap leach pads, stormwater containment, wastewater treatment ponds and closures. Harsh environmental conditions provide a challenge to engineers designing the projects. In addition, increasing environmental and cost pressures are requiring lining systems to achieve greater performance levels than ever. GCLs are rapidly becoming a desired component of mining liner systems because of the benefits they provide in cost effective construction, environmental compliance and process solution leak reduction. In weather-sensitive remote or high-altitude locations, GCLs offer far greater installation efficiencies than compacted clay.

  • Vacuum excavation solutions for diamond saw slurry

Concrete Cutting Contractors use our LP555SDT for saw slurry clean‐up. Concrete cutting using a Diamond Saw is the process of cutting expansion joints on freshly paved concrete roads. After cutting, water is used to eliminate dust thereby creating a slurry. This slurry has to be cleaned up due to EPA Regulations and the Vac-Tron vacuum excavator is the preferred clean-up method. Using water to create the slurry and then using the LP Series - Wet/Dry Industrial Vacuum Excavation System to eliminate any residue. Contractors perform this application frequently for airport runways and highway repair, as well as new construction.

  • Erosion & sediment control solutions for soil remediation

REMEDIAL ACTION PRACTICES include the requirements to develop erosion and sedimentation control plans, specifying plan content and soil conservation measures to keep sediment–laden mud from washing into storm sewers and watersheds where debris can clog creek channels and choke off aquatic life. Sediment control BMPs combine structural and non–structural measures used to avoid or minimize pollutants accumulated by environmental hazards across impervious surfaces.

  • Civil engineering applications

Civil engineering jobs in water are typical for Watermaster Classic. Watermaster is ideal when e.g. embedding cables and pipes in the bottom and it can also do other kinds of maintenance work effectively. The harder the conditions are, the greater Watermaster`s advantages compared to other technologies. The machine moves to the site with its own propulsion system and remote controlled spuds give proper anchorage for steady and efficient excavating work as well as for cable mounting.

  • Hydrodemolition

Problem: The impact of concrete breakers and jackhammers is not limited to deteriorated concrete. It can damage rebar and produce vibration that generates microfractures in sound concrete. Not to mention the noise and the dust.

  • Water Containment

Polymeric liners are prone to puncture by inclusions within the underlying soil. Thick, non-woven geotextile can be used to give protection to liners during installation. Often the upper slopes are exposed to damage and it is a good practice to cover these areas with a depth of soil which will sustain vegetation. Alternatively, a stone or concrete substance can be used to achieve a hard landscaped appearance. Our product will protect the liner from puncture whilst also providing a degree of slope stability.

  • Geosynthetic Lining for Highway and Civil Applications

GCL can be used in highway and civil applications such as at airport de-icing facilities used to remove ice build up on the surfaces of planes. During the application process, glycol-based de-icing fluids can leak into local stormwater runoff, potentially causing pollution. CETCO GCLs were found compatible with de-icing fluid (glycol diluted 50/50 with water). GCLs can also be used to line roadway drainage swales for containment and prevent excessive percolation, thereby minimizing potential for groundwater contamination. Another example of using GCL in civil and highway applications is using the liner to contain acid rock and prevent runoff from entering the local water supply.

    Restoration

Restoring structures after floods and fires is a constantly evolving industry. In addition to keeping up with industry best practices for health and safety of both the contractors and the building residents post restoration, it is also important to be working with modern and reliable restoration equipment. Utilizing Omnitec and OmniAire products will allow you to take advantage of the latest best practice methods with equipment you know will work reliably and safely. Airborne contaminates and dust is a significant consideration for almost any restoration project. Did you know that studies have shown a substantial increase in air particulate matter during the drying process? Not only does dust and contaminates affect your worker’s safety, but also the safety of the post-restoration occupants. Just increasing the air circulation doesn’t remedy the situation and, without adequate filtration, may actually create more problems.

  • Services related to the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

    • Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a complex of measures aimed to identify the character, intensity and severity of impact on the environment and public health caused by any kind of planned economic activity. • The purpose of an EIA is to develop the necessary measures to prevent the harmful effects of the proposed economic activity on the environment or minimization of this influence if you can’t eliminate it. EIA is carried out during the design phase, before the construction of the facility. • As a result of the EIA customer receives information about the character and extent of the environmental impact of the proposed economic activity, information about alternative methods of implementation, assessment of the environmental and other related impacts caused by activities of the enterprise.

  • Noise and vibration monitoring for the construction site

By implementing a noise and vibration monitoring system, the impact of construction site activities can be managed by: Complying with legal requirements relating to public health sanctioning the absence of appropriate precautions to limit abnormally high levels of noise and vibrations. Taking environmental quality considerations into account (HQE approach). Limiting noise and vibration pollution with the comfort of neighbouring residents in mind. Enabling companies in the public works and construction industry to adopt a transparent approach to communication with local residents, in order to avoid resistance and instead gain their support for a given project. Providing the site manager with reliable and official data, should it be required. 01dB offers solutions for construction professionals to suit the requirements of each building site. It provides them with metrological systems (such as the certified DUO sound level meter, dB4 and MR2002) with 01dB WebMonitoring services to ensure optimal control of noise & vibration impact of the construction work, using as well communication tools intended for the general public.

  • Groundwater Monitoring for Construction Sites

All construction affects groundwater and a water management plan will be required. From deforestation to urbanisation, from holes to heaps and dams to drains, they all have an affect on the groundwater. Deforestation causes an increase in the rate of run off of rainwater resulting in lower percolation of precipitation into the soil and a consequent increase in soil erosion leading to slope instability, hence land and mud slides. The increased rate of run off can cause small streams and large rivers to rise and flood in a shorter time, but also to dry up sooner. These conditions cause great difficulties for subsistence farmers in developing countries. Urbanisation also causes faster run off because of the non permeable surfaces such as roads, roofs and car parks. This also creates drainage problems that can lead to contamination and erosion of natural water courses.
