Terrawater - Model ASL -Ammonium Sulphate
Production of a solid fertilizer from an ammonium sulphate solution (ASL). Storage capacity for digestate is a valuable asset that needs to be handled sparingly. The new Fertilizer Ordinance is exacerbating the existing capacity problems for many farmers and forces them to use digestate processing. These deprive water from the fermentation residue, and mostly nutrients. Frequently, nitrogen is discharged through the use of air washers in the form of an ammonium sulphate solution (ASL).
Also, processes for substrate or recirculation treatment – for example, the TerraOrganic fermentation residue – are based on the withdrawal of nitrogen and the production of ASL. The goal here alsways is the production of the most concentrated, marketable fertilizer possible. Nevertheless, concentration and quality variations can not be eliminated in many processes.
Terrawater’s TerraSaline – originally designed for sea salt production – is now providing a system for the production of sulfur acid ammonia (SSA), an ASL-derived salt of high fertilizer value. Like all Terrawater products, it is based on a thermal process that uses the surplus heat of biogas plants and is therefore eligible for KWK bonus.
On the one hand, the TerraSaline S (ASL) avoids the need to buy expensive special storage tanks for ASL and, on the other hand, the end product SSA guarantees a consistent and very high quality of the fertilizer.
