Herberts - Model DIN28120 -Sight Glass Fitting
After welding base flange onto or into vessel wall, seals, glass disc and flange are placed together in the order shown. Then the nuts (in case of studded base flange) and washers are progressively tightened, always working on diametrically opposted pairs of nuts at time. Tightening torque values are given in table on overleaf. Other information can be taken from DIN28120.

Applications
- Weld-on Sight glass fittings for the observation of the internals of pressure, silos, gear trains, separators, pipelines, etc.

- Pressure: 10 bar or 16 bar, depending on size, higher pressure rating on request). For temperature rating (depending on material selection)

Operating temperature
- max. 280°C – Borosilicate glass DIN7080
- max. 150°C – Sodalime glass DIN8902
- max. 500°C – fused quartz glass
Note
- The operating safety of sight glass plates depends very much on their installation (e.g. no scratches) (instructions according to DIN7080). For metal fused sight glasses, this is not entirely true, because the force of the bolts is transmitted via the metal ring of the mating flange.
