EFLO - Model SAF -High Rate Biological Sewage Treatment
EFLO SAF is a biological treatment process based on submerged aerated biofilter using a fixed film, attached biological growth process. It is designed to achieve a final effluent of 10/10/2 in terms of BOD5/TSS/N-NH3. The high rate biological oxidation process is performed using an extremely efficient Submerged Aerated Filter with a very high specific surface area.
The heart of the system is a structured matrix of welded and rigid Polypropylene PP media with a very high specific surface area. This allows for high concentrations of attached biomass to be maintained in the Biozone. The unique flow pattern within the media ensure high rates of biological oxidation with relatively low retention time. The media ensures air bubble retention is prolonged and allows for exceptionally high oxygen transfer rates with low energy consumption.
The flow of raw sewage through to treated final effluent is as follows:
- Raw sewage is lifted at average flow rate and delivered to a primary settling tank
- The settled raw sewage is lifted from the septic tank and delivered to the Biozone Submerged Aerated Filter
- Biologically treated liquor discharges from the Biozone.
- Biologically treated liquor passes by gravity through the Final Settlement Tank.
- Effluent discharges from settlement tank to a chlorination.
- Final effluent is filtered via pressure sand filters prior to discharge or reuse.

- High Quality Final Effluent of 10/10/2 BOD/TSS/NH3-N
- Very High MLVSS Concentration Attached Growth Technology
- High Tolerance of Shock & Over Loads
- Upgrade Existing Plants Nitrification Polishing Low Power Consumption Low Sludge
Production - Small foot print, high capacity
