Hybrid Fracturing
Hybrid Fracturing is an innovative technology developed by ARS to facilitate more effective and economical in situ remedial treatment of contaminated soils and groundwater. Hybrid Fracturing incorporates two proven remedial technologies whose benefits have already been well established in low-permeability soils: Pneumatic Fracturing (PF) - a specialty area in which ARS is a recognized technology leader - and Hydraulic Fracturing techniques.
By integrating these two processes, ARS is able to further enhance emplacement and subsurface distribution of remedial amendments such as chemical oxidants and enhanced bioremediation agents. This not only reduces costs but also increases the radial distribution of the treatment material, insuring that it reaches the targeted contaminants.
