When a large offshore oil spill occurs it is important to respond immediately. Dedicated oil spill response vessels (OSRV) like the once fitted with Rigid Sweeping Arms and its handling cranes are not often directly available, therefore, temporary vessels of opportunity (VOO) have to be prepared instead. The MCPS offers the oil spill responder a high level of preparedness through vessel flexibility and rapid response. This MCPS system will turn a VOO into a very safe and most effective offshore oil spill recovery vessel, within hours.
The whole system is easy mountable on the deck of a VOO. For high preparedness the complete MCPS to be stored ashore at the designated response centre together with the cranes, rigid sweeping arms and hydraulic power unit (HPU), ready to go on board. Mounting the 2 complete sets of MCPS including the oil spill recovery equipment will take less than 12 hours.
