Tekran - Model JITRbug -Mercury Test Gas Generator
Ensuring worker safety from toxic levels of air mercury requires accurate and precise hand-held mercury monitors. The Tekran® JITRbug Instrument is designed as a rapid performance assessment tool for hand-held mercury industrial hygiene monitors. The system uses a built-in saturated mercury source to produce mercury test atmospheres of known concentrations. This is used to audit external equipment and confirm accurate response. The JITRbug system is designed to be simple and foolproof to operate, so even untrained workers can readily audit hand-held mercury monitors.
Handheld Mercury Monitor Integrity Test Rig
Independent Instrument Performance Assessment
Due to their small size, industrial hygiene hand-held mercury monitors do not include an internal calibration source or alternative accuracy assessment capability. Typically, workers and industrial hygiene experts can only assume the monitor is generating accurate results on a day-to-day basis. Routine calibration at the factory, or done in-house using complicated laboratory procedures is not practical or efficient. With the introduction of the Tekran JITRbug, accuracy and performance of hand-held air mercury monitors can be accomplished in 5- minutes just prior to daily use, or before entering a potentially hazardous air space. Supervisors and industrial hygiene managers are now able to routinely document accuracy and performance, to make certain workers are fully protected from toxic levels of mercury in air. The JITRbug is a simple-to-operate continuous source of a precisely controlled mercury test gas of known concentration, traceable to a NIST standard. The mercury source flow and dilution air flow are precisely controlled by dual MFC’s, enabling the system to quickly switch between output Hg concentrations of 30 μg/m3, 50 μg/m3, and 100 μg/m3 (others optional).
