Each system consists of 3 phases:

Size Reduction:

The first stage in loosening contamination is the shredding/granulating process. Depending on the requirement we will use one or a combination of the following machines:

  • Granulator
  • Single Shaft Shredder
  • Twin Shaft Shredder
  • Four Shaft Shredders

Materials are reduced to a pre-determined flake size. Much of the contamination caused by labelling is separated from the film at this stage making it easy to remove during the washing process

Washing - Cleaning Contaminated Plastics:

DJE design systems to suit a wide range of contamination levels. From clean 99/1 LDPE to heavily contaminated Agricultural Film.

We offer a range of washing machinery to remove almost all kinds of contamination. We use a combination of the following machines:

  • Trommel
  • High Speed Friction Washer
  • Sink/Float Tank

Depending on the level of contamination DJE design a system which will clean the specified material consistently and efficiently. Cleaner grades one or two washing stages are sufficient to clean the material.

Heavily contaminated plastics such as agricultural film or food contaminated film, several washing stages may be required. In the case of oil contaminated film, chemical washing may be necessary at certain stages to clean the material ready for drying.

Drying Options:

The final, and possibly the most important stage of the system is the drying stage. High moisture levels reduce pelletizing efficiency and can be detrimental to the quality of the final pellet. Different pelletizing machinery will tolerate different levels of moisture. We can design systems with a range of moisture outputs, in most cases between 1% and 3%. We use a combination of the following machines: 

  • Horizontal Centrifugal Dryer
  • Screw compactor
  • Pipe Drying System
  • Air classifier (serves other purpose as well as drying) 

Different types of film, in particular film with different thicknesses, will require different types of machinery to reduce moisture to an acceptable level. While most requirements are at around 3~4%, we can bring that level down to under 1% if necessary by utilizing a more comprehensive set of drying machines. Following this stage the material is now shredded, clean and dry;
