This gear metering pump has been designed to allow the manufacturing of steel bars of the pump components. The N series gear metering pumps have been projected as suitable for all those applications in which not only a constant pressure is required, but also considerable precision in dosage. The complete absence of pressure pulsation on the delivery side of the pump optimises the accuracy of the flow meter reading and the prompt response to the capacity changes assures the correct dosage at all times; these factors are fundamental for the management of any system and for maintaining the quality characteristics of the pumped product. The construction of this series of gear pumps meets the regulations of the directive 2006/42CE and of the standards EN ISO 12100, EN 809, and has the certification GOST-R. Executions on request in accordance with Directive 94/9/EC (ATEX) and to API 676 - NACE MR0175; isalso available with GOST R - RTN (Rostekhnadzor).

The management of the quality system of pumps Cucchi Srl operates in according to UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 (Certificate No.SQU132AQ252 / 4).

The main applications of gear metering pumps range N:

  • Dosage / metering in the chemical sector in the soap, liquid detergents, additive, production.
  • Dosage / metering in the chemical sector for toxic, pulluting and hazardous liquids.
  • Dosage / metering in the cosmetic sector in shampoo, cream, shower gel production.
  • Dosage / metering in the food sector for aroma, juice, melted butter, honey, marmelade production.
  • Dosage / metering in textile sector of water, acids, beses.
  • Dosage / metering in the industrial sector for products of viscosity value between 1 e 100.000 cps.
  • The capacity range from the minimum of 0,5 l/h to 50.000 l/h with the maximum pressure of 15 bar.

The standard version is made of AISI 316L stainless steel. Pumps obtained from steel bars and not from casting guarantee homogeneous and uniform material quality, thus avoiding unpleasant inconveniences which may be caused by cracking or shrinkage. Special versions in Titanium, Hastelloy, Sanycro 28, PVDF, or any other material can be made by request. The motion is aided by bushings and flakes made of graphite (also available in reinforced PTFE - orin silicon carbide by request). This way seizures are avoided during dry running. This solution allows total pump maintenance to be carried out directly on the system without the use of special equipment or adjustments.

The shafts and gears which are also made of AISI 316L stainless steel undergo a special anti-wear and anti-seizure heat treatment. For extra heavy working conditions with partial cavitation phenomenon or for the transfer or dosage of deionized and demineralized water or liquids having high vapour tensions, a new thermal treatment has been available since 1996 called 'HH' (High Hardness). This modern thermal treatment considerably increases the resistance to wear of the gears and contributes to major protection from corrosion caused by chemical agents, an extremely low friction factor and a very high wear resistance of the treated parts. It also allows the surface hardness of 4000 Vickers. This treatment has also been used by one of the most important Formula 1 racing car teams on parts of the engine most subjected to wear.

For special applications there has been developed a new type of gears in plastic material called 'KK' with excellent chemical and mechanical properties. The standard mechanical seal is made of ceramics/graphite/Viton. However, single or doubles seals made of silicon carbide or tungsten carbide with gaskets in Viton, PTFE and Kalrez are available for special applications. The standard execution provides flanged inlet connections, SAE type 'weld on', but it can be supplied with food suitable connections, threaded BSP/NPT, ASA or DIN connections by request.

A special internal grooving assures perfect internal washing with water and soda, by means of a C.I.P cycle. This special type of grooving , which puts the bushing supporting area under pressure with the stuffing box, as well as assuring the complete elimination of traces of the liquid transferred through the wash cycle, enables acquisition of a constant supply of clean liquid in the supporting and sealing area, avoiding stagnation and thus maintaining the chemical/physical characteristics of the pumped product unaltered.

When the pump is not running, it is possible to steam wash through SIP cycle. By request, it is possible to supply both the pump and the base plate polished in case particular surface finishing is required. For the models with capacity between 1,9 cm3/rev. and 276 cm3/rev. it is possible to install magnetic coupling. Such an application is particularly suitable in case of corrosive, toxic, hazardous and polluting liquids occur. Magnetic coupling ensures the absence of leakage and solves all the pumping problems in plants where the environmental and human safety is a priority.

Main advantages of magnetic coupling: 1. High efficiency and low power absorption. 2. No waste in the environment. 3. Expensive control systems not required. 4. Low maintenance costs. 5. Easy assembling and a low number of spare parts. 6. Minimum pressure control. 7. Cost reduced if compared to double mechanical seals with flux. The standard execution of magnetic coupling is : the internal rotor in AISI 316 (DIN 1.4571) stainless steel, the external rotor in ST37 steel. It is possible to supply Hastelloy (C or D) or Titanium rotors. The temperature range is from -40°C to +350°C with 2000 Nm torque max. In the low capacity models it is possible to supply an external bypass valve on the delivery pipe by request. These are made of AISI 316L stainless steel, available in four different sizes (VE1 - VE2 - VE3 - VE4) with threaded connections from ½' to 1 1/2' and calibration pressure from 3 to 15 bar. Pre-heating chambers can be supplied by request which are suitable for heated water or diathermic oil.

The pump can be supplied together with a motor connected by means of coupling and aligned on a base plate. The motors with suitable capacities for the frequency variator applied can be selected in order to create dosage units. Power cooled and explosion-proof motors, riductor gear motors and variable speed motors, servo controlled both electric and pneumatic ones can be supplied by request. The pump code of this series is the same as for the other gear pumps of our production. Ex. 0NAX3,5/V0HF000 0NAX3,5 = Aisi 316L stainless steel pump with 2,6 cm3/rev. capacity.
