In the mining industry, slaked lime is an important chemical for regulating various processes. Slaked lime is used in concentration plants and for metal extraction. Concentration plants often use lime milk made of quicklime or slaked lime for regulating pH values. Keeping pH values at the required level ensures a high value yield from the mine. Lime products are also needed for treating unusable or superfluous process water, flood or rainwater before returning them to nature. Lime raises the pH value, thus precipitating metals diluted in the water into tailing areas.

Slaked lime as well as limestone products are needed in order to produce the calcium chloride spread on roads to reduce dust and slipperiness.

Nordkalk SL is also suitable for manufacturing lime-based paint. The paint made from SL 90 is particularly suitable for lightening up animal shelters, as well as inner surfaces of the root cellars. Lime paint wears off and the paint has to be renewed at regular intervals, in order to maintain the desired effect.
