PycnoPlast - Model Pycno 243 -Fire Retardant Masterbatch

It is very important to process ADD-FR 243 below 220 °C. Above this extrusion temperature (and depending on the residence time) an unpleasant smell may develop during production which might be present in the final product as well. Before shutdown the processing equipment should be flushed with natural material to avoid decomposition of materials.

Mode of action PYCNO 243 provides excellent flame-retardancy and UV stability to thick PP products and articles with a high surface area. Can be combined with traditional halogenated flame retardants to give synergistic effects.

Appearance Off-white granules.
Storage and handling 12 months from delivery in original packaging. Keep in cool, dry and well-ventilated area.
Temperature stability The product may be suitable for processing temperatures up to 220 °C.
Dosing rate The required dosing rate depends on the substrate, processing conditions and application. Trials are always required to establish the let-down ratio of this masterbatch with regard to the flame–retardant standards to be met. Typical dosing rate is 2-5%.
Dosing equipment Volumetric or gravimetric dosing units.
Processing equipment Tapes / film extruders, spinning lines as well as injection moulding machines.
