Solmax - White Reflective PE Geomembrane
Solmax’s White Reflective Prime Finish is a thin white polyethylene layer that is coextruded within any typical 3 layer Solmax geomembrane. The product’s core and bottom layer (≈97% of thickness), are made of the same raw materials and additives as traditional black geomembranes. By modifying the top layer (≈3% of thickness) with the addition of a pure white pigment and UV additives, Solmax is able to produce the first cost effective White Reflective liners which offers substantial technical benefits to various containment applications.
TECHNICAL BENEFITS
Having 97% of the liner with same constituents as traditional HDPE and LLDPE geomembranes, white reflective liners offer the same chemical, mechanical and durability advantages as these proven containment barriers. However, due to the white reflective finish of Solmax’s liners, sun light is reflected and not absorbed like it is for other HDPE and LLDPE geomembranes. Therefore, as seen in the table below, white reflective liners will be much cooler than black liners.
SAME PERFORMANCE
By being made of the same resin as the core and being coextruded at the time of manufacturing, the White Reflective Prime Finish does not affect the mechanical, physical or durability performance of any of Solmax`s standard series of PE geomembranes. The UV packaged white pigment used to give the white color to the top layer of the geomembranes replaces the traditionally used carbon black for typical black geomembranes. The white and black layers of the resulting geomembrane therefore form a monolithic product with the same properties in the outer layers as within its core.
Also, the special UV package additives that are used by Solmax allow the White Reflective geomembranes to have the same UV resistance as traditional black geomembranes.
