It often happens that biologically weakly charged waters are produced in industrial operations or on farms and have to be disposed of. In many cases this may be realised by means of a simple bioreactor. In this regard it is important that the daily COD charge (around 14 kg/day), along with other parameters, are not considerably exceeded. With its TerraOrganic bioreactor Terrawater has developed a system for this very application.

During the process biologically weakly charged waters are pumped into the bioreactor. It is incorporated in a 20′ container and mainly consists of a multi-stage reactor chamber, a regulated ventilation system and an automatic solids discharge (sludge). The water to be treated remains in the reactor chamber where micro organisms are settling until the contained nutrients have been decomposed and the water is at least suitable for the on-site preflooder (COD content).

The bioreactor has been designed in such a way that it may be heated by waste heat. In this way the operating temperature is kept optimal for the micro organisms, even during longer cold periods.

The resulting sludge is automatically discharged and may be disposed of. Given that the COD charge may be subject to extremely strong seasonal fluctuations for various reasons, TerraOrganic bioreactor may optionally identify fluctuating COD values at the inlet and outlet and adjust the retention time to the changed conditions. In this way safeguarding a discharge quality that complies with legal regulations. Furthermore, the pH value may be regulated as necessary.

From the bioreactor the water that is now suitable for the on-site preflooder flows into the preflooder via a piping.
The system is best suited to complement other TerraOrganic products.
