Vector - Model 3000 Series -Instrument Air Compressor Packages
Durable cast iron compressor pump, Two-stage design, Low rotational speeds, Full range of electrical classifications. Vector 3000 Series instrument air compressor packages are designed and built to service today’s stringent requirements for instrumentation quality compressed air, with outstanding performance and long-term economy. These compact compressor packages are ideal for small oil batteries, gas compressor skids, and process packages etc. You get a completely pre-engineered compressed air system ensuring an adequate supply of clean, dry, instrument quality air with minimum expense. Every compressor package is completely assembled and tested under load to make sure it leaves our plant in perfect operating condition. Vector 3000 Series air compressors are designed to provide more air per horsepower, with minimum maintenance, and to operate reliably year in and year out.

DURABLE CAST IRON CONSTRUCTION … provides greater frame rigidity and reduced noise level. No aluminum alloy cylinders with inters – just 100% cast iron construction for the greatest frame strength and longest life.
TWO-STAGE DESIGN … Vector instrument air compressor packages use only TWO-STAGE air compressor pumps. Why TWO-STAGE? … Because heat is the number one cause of maintenance problems in piston type air compressors and at an operating pressure of 100 PSIG a two-stage compressor has a discharge air temperature of only 245° F versus temperatures of up to 485° F for single-stage units.
(*). Not only does this TWO-STAGE design allow for operating pressure up to 175 PSIG, but also the lower operating temperatures result in several important benefits to the owneroperator including increased lubricant life and reduced carbon formation on the valves.
LOW OPERATING SPEEDS … we design with low rotational and piston speeds in mind. These low rotational speeds result in:

IMPROVED CYLINDER AND VALVE COOLING … each cylinder on a Vector 3000 Series compressor is individually cast and mounted in a “V” type cylinder arrangements.
This individual cylinder arrangement allows for 360° cooling resulting in longer ring and valve life than compressors that usef one casting to house two cylinders.
Competitive vertical cylinder units, which incorporate both the low and high-pressure cylinders in a single common casting, face a cooling air circulation problem since the air cannot flow between the cylinders.
Further, on the Vector 3000 Series, each cylinder is easily removable for inspection and maintenance.
BALANCED V-TYPE CYLINDER ARRANGEMENT … offers improved cylinder and valve cooling and smoother operation.
MULTI-FINNED TUBE TYPE INTERCOOLERS … these coolers are located directly in the flywheel air blast and are designed to lower the air temperature to the second stage of compression for extended valve life. Their finned construction dissipates heat six times faster than some competitive cast iron coolers.
UNIQUE OVERHUNG CRANKSHAFT DESIGN … Vector’s unique overhung crankshaft is fully supported on the flywheel end by two heavy-duty ball bearings running on a replaceable crank pin bushing. If a bearing fails, the crankshaft is not damaged. A crankcase cover plate on the non-drive end can be quickly removed to enable easy internal inspection.
ONE-PIECE CONNECTING RODS … overhung crankshaft design, makes possible solid-end connecting rods. There are no con rod caps, bolts and nuts to come loose, they never need adjustment or tightening and there is no possibility that the rod cap bolts can be over torqued.
INLET AND DISCHARGE PIPING IS CONNECTING TO THE CYLINDER, NOT THE CYLINDER HEAD …inlet/discharge connections are made on the cylinders, not the cylinder head. This configuration permits very easy valve inspection, because piping does not have to be removed to access the valves.
NON-ROTATING CRANKSHAFT JOURNAL SLEEVE … the crankshaft throw doesn’t have any wearing area; rather, all wear is on the precision ground and hardened journal sleeve that is easily replaced in the field.
HEAVY DUTY THREADED INLET AIR FILTER/SILENCER … the inlet filter/silencer provided is connected to the piping using standard NPT (National Pipe Thread) connections, rather than being a built-in part of the cylinder head, as with some competitive machines.
This allows the inlet filter to be easily remote mounted and piped from outside of the building for use in explosion proof environments where drawing air from inside the building is not permitted.
OIL FILTER PLUG IS LOCATED AT THE SAME ELEVATION AS THE REQUIRED OIL LEVEL …rather than high on the crankcase. This prevents accidental overfilling of the compressor, which results in excessive oil carryover into the piping system.
FULLY ENCLOSED BELT GUARD … meets OSHA requirements and provides operator protection on all sides.
CENTRIFUGAL TYPE STARTING UNLOADER … eliminates the need for unloading solenoid valves and their related wiring.
ELECTRIC MOTORS… WEG brand Severe Duty, Premium Efficiency cast iron frame, TEFC electric motors with a 1.25 service factor.
COMPRESSED AIR DRYER … Vector 3000 Series instrument air compressor packages are available with replaceable cartridge, membrane or heatless regenerative type air dryers suitable for various operating requirements.
COALESCING FILTER … removes more than 99.5% of all oil vapors and aerosols. A pop-up indicator automatically shows when a filter change is required.
FILTER/DRYER BY-PASS … allows for replacement of the filter cartridge and dryer element without disruption to service.
FULL RANGE OF ELECTRICAL CLASSIFICATIONS … Vector compressor packages are available for unclassified, Class 1, Division 2 and Class 1, Division 1 explosion proof area.
REDUCED FLOOR SPACE … vertical design results in a very compact package.
CODE COMPLIANT … These packages are designed and fabricated here in North America ensuring compliance with local code requirements including UL, CSA, ASME and OSHA.
