WEI - Stop Sand

Stop Sand is a patented product made by WEI, in Italy, respecting API rules. It is a Liner Hanger with ports for placing Gravel Pack around screens. It is particulary designed for water wells where the aquifer is made up by loose sediments. It is mainly composed by three equipment: Liner Hanger, Gravel Setting Tool and Stop Sand Setting Tool.

Functioning is the following:

  • The Gravel Pack is placed in the annulus between the borehole wall and the well screens to prevent formation material from entering the screens.
  • The installation of the Liner Hanger is easy and trouble free.
  • Three steel Elliptical Supports are welded inside of the cemented casing in such position that they don’t obstruct the passage of a tricone rock bit or other tools.
  • The Elliptical Support function is to support and fix the Liner Hanger in place, so that the weight of the screens and casing liners causes the automatic compression and expansion of the Rubber Packer.
