Why Williams is the acknowledged leader in Roller Mill Design.
Turn Down Ratio: Infinite turn down while maintaining product size. Williams adjusts the mill grinding rate as a direct function of control system demand. The mill capacity is modulated by varying mill speed.

Operation of the Roller Mill System is completely automatic.
Feeder (A) introduces raw material into the grinding chamber in the base of the Roller Mill (B) at a rate determined by pressure variations with the Roller Mill. Plows located ahead of each roller direct the material upward and between the grinding rolls and the heavy alloy steel bull ring where it is ground to size. The grinding rolls are free to swing out centrifugally which forces them to bear upon and grind the raw material. Being free to pivot, the rolls automatically assume the proper position for grinding and need no adjustment to compensate for wear.
Once ground to size, material is swept out of the mill by the controlled air flow from the centrifugal
- Roller Mill product can be directed into numerous streams by utilizing splitter assemblies
- The heart of the Roller mill is the massive base casting, extra heavy roller bearing journal assemblies and the single piece replaceable grinding ring.
- Optional automatic journal lubrication and air seal can be supplied for 24-hour operation.
- Williams` exclusive independent, external gear box arrangement provides trouble free operation.
- Hot gas for drying can be provided by a dedicated air heater or from an auxiliary source. Hot and cold tempering dampers provide accurate mill temperature and product consistency.
Feeders For Williams Roller Mills Since Williams Roller Mills are used on a wide range of materials, the proper feeder selection is essential for high-capacity, trouble-free operation. Shown here are a few of the different types of feeders that can be furnished:
- Vibratory feeder for high capacity and abrasive materials.
- Volumetric or gravimetric weigh belt feeder for accurate material measurement.
- Rotary feeder for dry, free flowing, fine materials.
- Live bottom screw feeders for wet, stick materials such as clay or filter cake.
- Auxiliary Mill Bottom Discharge exclusive with Williams Roller Mills Sample pans showing clear, dust free coarse product from the Mill Bottom Discharge shown next to 200 mesh fines from the air system-produced and dried simultaneously.
- Beneficiation Beneficiation of culm or gob mine waste by rejecting the hardest to grind impurities having high ash and low BTU values.
- Granular Products Or Chips Made With A Minimum Of Fines Manufacture a virtually dust free coarse fraction simultaneously while fine grinding and drying.
